How do you calculate the premium? I know for conversion and strike price...Any idea on premium?

Warrant premium = W-(Mp-Ep) where W=current warrant price, Mp=current stock price, Ep=exercise price. Thus on close 18/6/21, the premium for C23 = 0.315-(1.16-0.88) = 0.035 or 3.01% of Mp.

RM in depreciating against USD now..if crude oil drops ..it could be worse for the trend. EPF also seems to be selling now. Keeping my fingers crossed

Savvy and institutional funds are quietly collecting Astro shares. Only EPF is selling as they screw up buying shares like Serbak.Astro is making new highs over the last one year. Uptrending stock on the Chart coupled with earnings recovery will result in stock rerating upwards very soon. Hold on tightly, cheers

KUALA LUMPUR (June 23): Market talk is rife that Astro Malaysia will announce its partnership agreement with Netflix "soon", which The Edge understands could be as early as this week.

The Edge also understands that the actual service will not take place immediately after the signing announcement and will be available on the Astro box in a couple of months.

One of the biggest complaints Astro users have had since the beginning of time (or the service) is service interruption during bad weather.

With the introductions of Astro's On Demand feature, users with good internet connection could still stream the content made available on the platform but disruption to its "live TV" remained a problem.

According to The Edge's report, this may be a thing of the past as well.

It's believed that Astro is planning on introducing satellite-free decoders on 8 July in a move to be more appealing to those who dislike the current system. Analysts foresee a drop in Astro installation prices if this pans out.

Does this mean that the company will no longer have satellite TV? Probably unlikely in the near future, unless Malaysia miraculously introduces fast internet connections even in rural places soon.

It'll be interesting to see if a partnership with Netflix will be indeed announced and what it looks like.

Scanning the Internet. A lot of people are unhappy about the censorship of movies and TV shows on the Malaysian version of Disney+. A lot of users are contemplating on using VPN to bypass local censorships and subscribe to US/SG Disney+. Astro remains one of the least favourite brands among Malaysians.
Food for thought

KUALA LUMPUR (June 24): Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd announced today that it will be bringing Netflix's streaming services to Astro's platform, confirming a report by The Edge yesterday that the partnership between the two groups would be unveiled this week.

In a statement, Astro said its customers will soon be able to enjoy seamless access to Netflix on their connected Ultra Boxes, first at launch, and on connected Ulti Boxes in the coming months.

"With this partnership, Astro and Netflix customers in Malaysia can enjoy greater convenience by having Netflix with their Astro subscription, providing easy access for payment in a single bill, at the best value," it added.

Astro chief executive officer Henry Tan said its partnership with Neftlix consolidates its position as a leading provider of entertainment services in the country.

The partnership with Netflix should have came in earlier. The idea is that, those that actually WANT netflix has already subscribed to Netflix.

The question now is that, how many outliers remains that want Netflix but couldn't afford netflix at the current subscription cost?

Is it wise for Netflix to cooperate with Astro?

Who stands to gain more from this cooperation?

Netflix was launched in Malaysia back in 2016.
As of 2020, Netflix has about 336 000 subscribers.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/607605/malaysia-netflix-subscribers/

This is quite less when compared to the number of Malaysian households (7.6 Million)

https://www.mycensus.gov.my/index.php/ms/

Astro, on the other hand has about 5.7 million subscribers (75% of Malaysian household)

https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/astro-focusing-original-content-keep-ahead

Astro will help Netflix to reach a wider audience (just like what Astro did for Disney+ Hostar)

With a discounted price (just like Disney+ Hotstar), Astro users can subscribers to Netflix.

This means the number of Netflix users will increase.

Astro might receive a percentage of income from the new subscriptions.

Netflix can save tons of money spend to market their platform on YouTube.

The non movie package astro customers may consider subscribing to movie package to access Disney Hotstar and possibly Netflix at a cheaper rate.

This also may deter the existing customers from abandoning Astro all together.

Disney Hotstar and Netflix will help Astro to stay relevant in the internet age.

Astro huat huat!
Netflix Hotstar
SuiSui !

Posted by wallstreetrookie > 2021-07-07 08:58 | Report Abuse

I mean Hotstar is actually an Indian company. Netflix + Disney+ is a good deal for the consumer but for Astro as a media company the contract isn't going to contribute that much towards the total revenue. Profit margin will remain tight as well
