Wow...RM 2.55 Billion...how many IPP can be built...you just imagine...why must hold on to this asset that give low profit margin...or not at all...!!!...GL.
the dividend is not sustainable, look at the dividend % of the income. There's an example, they relocate their HQ, and just that small action, they didn't pay dividend for that period of time. If they go on an extensive business expansion, the dividend most likely will be cut.
another thing, this saj ranhill don't have water asset anymore, what it have is water concession agreement and this agreement is subjected to review, I forgotten how many years.
@hollandking... good dividend payout ratio of 40 to 60% is the best. But for utility, telco, n others that can generate good cash flow every quarter... probably they can manage to payout at least 75% of its earnings. Of course building an IPP needs lot of money in the first place...but the recurring income will be consistent n sustainable. TQ.
Ranhill is a conservative dividend stock. I see no problem for Ranhill concession get renewed every three year because they are doing a good job in operating and maintaining the water asset. Johor has lowest Non Revenue Water because of the good management. It is very hard for the government to start a new water utility company because of the distribution channel, personnel in place and high operating cost. If you look at capital expenditure, Ranhill spent a lot of money to maintain the water asset for example water treatment, pipeline maintenance and lowering NRW. They are not earning excessive return on the water concession. Hence, it is better for the government to let Ranhill continue to operate the water concession.
On the other hand, if the government want to buyout the company, they will need to pay a reasonable sum of money to ensure smooth takeover, like what happened in Selangor SPLASH.
That one was the value in 2016. Reevaluation of assets will be much more. Ability to make money is the crucial point of its market value. Especially Johor Gov wants to take it over SAJ Ranhill creates high demand value.
Ranhill had paid a total of 6 sen dividend this year. If they continue to pay at last quarter like what they did in 2017 and 2016, the total dividend per share will be at least 7 to 8 sen.
Be patient, Ranhill is a conservative dividend stock. It will not have big up movement, but will bring you 8.6% to 9.9% dividend yield at today price(assuming another dividend at last quarter). I believe that Mr Koon bought it because it has met his stock selection rule.
water contract only till 2020. After that, PH johor gov can terminate and give it to new co or bargain for lower price. now new gov making saving for rakyat. not like the former pencuri gov giving it to cronies.
If license is stopped, no body can take over the work. Still the water properties are belong to Ranhill SAJ, Johor Gov needs to buy it first before they are run the show (to maintain) . Now Ranhill is owning and maintaining. License is just for maintaining (supplying).
from 65 up to 80sen no compliant , I still earn big money from Ranhil And aagain while 68sen I alreday said limit upppppppppppppp and also need to say : I comfirn limit upppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp
That's why former Johor government just renewed its licence as they knew they could not do the job well as Ranhill. In deed, they knew nothing in this water business. They could only mess the situation.
Most important is now (this year) can first (no body know future that is far away) , based on its track record. If bank interest is lowed down to 3% from 3.25% due to deflation or just maintained, don't see why you don't invest in Ranhill.
This book is the result of the author's many years of experience and observation throughout his 26 years in the stockbroking industry. It was written for general public to learn to invest based on facts and not on fantasies or hearsay....
