It's the end of the year. These funds are rebalancing their portfolio. Some are taking profit to provide dividends to their investor or for tax purposes. So these selling is no issue. Wait till early next year. I believe more buying will ensue.
MyCC has upheld its earlier verdict and fine of RM157 million on LHI's participation on a cartel group's fixing of chicken feed price which is in violation to the country's anti-competition law provision despite LHI's strong rebuttal against the charges .. The total fine amount of RM157 million is rather substantial as it accounted for ~50% of its total earnings in 2023, and has yet to be booked in its 2023 financials .. This is a grossly negative as it will certainly affect its ability to declare a higher dividend payout to the shareholders but management had earlier indicated in its recent QR of its intention to challenge the verdict via court proceeding .. Nonetheless, the penalty amount still needs to be booked in its account for prudent accounting practice and reverse out in the event of successful court challenge .. i reckoned the recent price weakness of LHI share (i.e. dumping by institutional investors) have more less priced in this negative news and the share price could see a more meaningful recovery in 2024 ...
According to Iskandar, the cost of chicken feed represents 72.8% of the total cost for chicken production compared with other factors, such as day-old-chicks (21%), manpower (2.6%), transportation (1.7%), vaccine/vitamin (1.0%), and utilities such as water and electricity (0.9%).
“Based on our investigation, there are 29 feedmill companies, of which these five companies control 40% of the market,” he said.
He said the companies would raise the price of chicken feed by RM1 to RM2 per 50kg, either simultaneously or within a week of each other.
Dindings Poultry was fined RM70,023,622.35, followed by FFM Bhd (RM42,689,583) Gold Coin Feedmills (RM97,511,670) Leong Hup Feedmill (RM157,470,027), and PK Agro-Industrial (RM47,800,793).
On top of the fine, MyCC also issued a cease and desist order instructing the companies to cease participation in the chicken feed cartel.
Just to add that the fine payment of RM157 million is still manageable to LHI considering its circa RM1 billion of operating cashflow generation annually, which is more than sufficient to service its debt payment & dividend payout of 4 cents per share .. And in spite of this negative hit, LHI is still a compelling counter to hold for its superior dividend yield of >6% with further capital upside on its eventual earnings recovery from Vietnam and Indonesia market .. Thank you and God Bless :)
@Unfair Nope. I believe it will bask in its glory after a few rounds of sell-off. Requiring a bit of patience to ride through tumultuous times. Plus, not a PN17 or GN company either if you have your fundamentals with you
If a company is dishonest with shareholders and not practising good governance like Serbuk Dinamik, the company sooner or later will going to fall
No institutional financiers will be willing to pinjam duit to unscrupulous management in cheating all stakeholders carrying illegal secret trade in long term
Only honest and integrity company will sustain in long term and worthy to invest
Now you know why insider investors keep dumping millions of shares almost every day before this news published
This industry really difficult. Raw material increase, Ringgit Malaysia is so weak, basic salary increase to RM1500, all the cost increase. But cost cannot transfer to consumer. Chicken price up, all people cry father cry mother and complaint and media will highlight it. If cannot afford to eat chicken, go and buy beef, mutton and pork la, price of beef, mutton and pork is cheaper I think.
In rupanya company pengkhianat negara. no wonder shareholder all selling and run. Government should not only fine 500 Mil. Patut fine 1 Bil and make them bankrupt to teach them and send message to other cartel. You go again govt wish and rakyat wish you will sakit or ditidurkan.
During COVID, rice price also went up. MyCC didn't fine Bernas. Why? Chicken and egg go up in price and they attack the 5 companies blaming on chicken feed ... bcoz they are Chinese owned. Racist government is BACK guys.
Chicken feed is made of soy meal and corn. Just like a commodity like rice. All commodity went up in price.

Ayam, telur mahal because of LHI?

Pay the price for the crooked profits. I am sure this has been going on for years.

Padiberas Nasional (Bernas), a local conglomerate that controls rice distribution, last month announced a 36% rise in the price of imported rice, prompting people to seek out cheaper local rice.3 Oct 2023
GRAB sued MyCC. Took 3 years for verdict for GRAB. SO assuming LHI vs MyCC takes the same period of time ....LHI would have made the profit to cover the fines. But LHI should win if court is fair.
Without prejudice or disrespect to any parties. The fine of 157 million imposed on LHI for breaching the rules related to poultry feedmill price fixing is very substantial. At this point of time LHI press announcement to challenge and applied for a stay of the decision is lauded. Nonetheless minorities shareholders have the right to know what other plans the management have in mind apart from engaging external legal counsels to contest against the fine. 157 million is a very substantial sum of money if the company failed in its bid. Just my own personal 2 sen take on the legal saga
