Thanks for the report, buddy.
I see they mention a first technical resistance at 1.37, I mentioned 1.38 a couple of weeks ago so I wont argue with that :)

Ideally a move up to that price region before the quarterly and Main Board listing would set it up nicely for a solid break up.

All IMO though.

But there's obviously some force preventing the price from moving up for the time being, for some reasons.

klkk.......could the reason be in yesterday's company announcement?

It would make sense, purely speculating though.

As for the capping, I'd rather be holding shares in a company that appears to be capped, than a company whose shares are being artificially held up.

Something has to give, eventually.

Solar photovoltaic (PV) system specialist Solarvest Holdings Bhd, which is seeking a listing transfer from the ACE Market to the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia, said its project pipeline is robust and has received tender invites to bid for overseas and domestic projects.

For overseas projects, Group CEO Davis Chong Chun Shiong (pic below) told StarBiz that in Taiwan, it has Identified a local joint-venture partner and targetted to enter that market by year-end.

“We are bidding for engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) projects in Taiwan and hope to secure the projects based on our track record.

“In the Philippines, we have partnered with renowned energy player Vivant Corp and have clinched two pilot projects.

“At the same time, we are in talks for more projects in the Philippines and to tap into Vivant’s solar investment plans there, ” he said.

Solarvest made its maiden expansion beyond the Malaysian market after securing two contracts for solar rooftop projects in the Philippines in April this year.

The overseas expansion plan is crucial in diversifying the company’s portfolio in the long run, Chong said, adding that it is working with local energy players to fast-track its market penetration in the two countries.

He said Solarvest has also set up its team there to kick start project bidding activities.

Chong said: “For the longer term, we are diversifying our business geographically to disperse the risk of over reliance to any single market. Our aim is to grow our overseas portfolio to a sizeable portion in the next three to five years.”

As for its overseas markets, he said the company is on the lookout for potential merger and acquisition opportunities to expedite its expansion plans.

“We are open to potential synergistic investments that are within our financial and risk appetite. Under the current market conditions, valuations of assets are attractive for us to consider.

“We believe that we are currently in a comfortable position to access the possible options given our solid financial strength, ” he said.

As of June 30,2020, the group remains in a net cash position of RM46.6mil.

In Malaysia, Chong said its focus remained on organic growth and the company intended to expand its solar assets portfolio.

He said the company is also currently bidding for several large-scale solar assets under the large scale solar@mentari programme.

Early this month, Solarvest announced it has commissioned the country’s largest floating solar plant, the group’s ninth large scale solar (LSS) project.

The 13MWp solar power facility, which was built on a former mining lake in Dengkil, Selangor, spans about 53ha or the size of 30 football fields.

UOB Kay Hian in a recent report said smaller players like Solarvest would be the bigger beneficiaries of the 1,000MW power plant projects under the LSS4 scheme, as it would be divided into smaller generation capacity projects.

The research house said the tender capacity for LSS4 would range from 10MW to 50MW for each bid, with up to 20 projects to be awarded by this December.

It noted that EPCC players like Solarvest are bidding to be asset owners to reduce their dependency on EPCC contracts that are lumpy and short-term in nature. This would help boost their recurring income, backed by long-term 21-year renewable energy power purchase agreement offtaker, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB).

On the company’s business outlook for this year and in 2021, Chong said despite the short-term setbacks from the Covid-19 pandemic, he remains optimistic underpinned by the rising demand for solar PV systems across various segments.

“We believe this is an opportune time for us to shine and we are seizing opportunities during this unprecedented period. While the initial capex for the solar PV systems could be sizeable, in the long run it provides cost savings for the consumers.

“The economic benefits are also appealing for corporates who are looking for ways to reduce their operating costs. Hence, we believe the uptake of solar energy will continue to be on the rise, ” he said.

He said there is also more investments inflow for solar projects as corporates are diversifying their revenue stream. Furthermore, there is still a big gap to be filled in the renewable sector as the country moves towards its 20% clean energy mix goal by 2025, he noted.

Thanks again for posting a solar/ Solarvest related article, very much appreciated.

The possibilities in this country are almost limitless to scale up the use of solar generated power. Thankfully the government has finally bought into the story, probably mainly due to to their commitment to reduce the overall carbon footprint agreement with other nations. Now they have no choice but to fulfil that agreement.

For this to be successful in a big way, they need to offer incentives to the private sector to buy into the story to allow companies to have the right information to form mid and long term business plans where the companies get a return on their investment in a prescribed period.

As an example, imagine a site such as an Aeon mall and car park facility where you not only have a huge mall roof area but the footprint of the parking areas. By putting roofs on the parking area, all that space could be used for solar panels. Clearly there would be a high initial capital cost in doing this, however not only could the electricity be used by the mall operators but all excess power could be sold back to the grid.

A fairly straight forward business plan would be able to show the benefits to all concerned and the period of time the company would expect to get a return on their investment.

I know of normal households overseas who are able to "sell back" their excess power to the grid and has proven to be very successful. These are the avenues the Malaysian government should be looking at now.

Lots of potential in this huge growth area, with no tangible reason for it not to happen in this country.

https://www.klsescreener.com/v2/announcements/view/3254997

Just speculating if we can deduce anything from this announcement. This announcement states that the company are going to issue "up to 78,124,731" new shares in this proposed placement.

In the previous announcement last month regarding the placement, they stated that they planned to raise "up to Rm101,562,000" for company expansion.

Drawing a long bow here, but using those two figures (78,124,731 shares and raising Rm101,562,000), that would equate to Rm1.30 per new share.

Could that be the reason the share price has always been pushed down in recent weeks anytime it gets close to breaking Rm1.30? Meaning, don't let it break 1.30 until the placement is completed.

This is pure speculation on my behalf, I could be completely wrong but it could explain some of the weird trading in this stock in recent times.

Any thoughts?

@TreeTopView, you could be right on on the deduction of the private placement price at RM 1.30. If that is the case , current share price for SLVEST is a good discount to add already.

Hi @Aries, we will just have to wait for the final outcome of the placement to see if these figures stack up. But by the company making this announcement about the number of shares to be listed, Rm1.30 fits in to the amount they want to raise in the placement.

Aside from that, November seems to be shaping up as an interesting month for Solarvest.

1. The completion of the placement, as mentioned.
2. Completion of the listing on the Main Board of KLSE.
3. Quarterly report towards the end of the month.

Those events to be followed up in December with the announcing of the successful tenders for the Large Scale Solar Scheme 4, where Solarvest seems to have ticked all the boxes there. https://www.klsescreener.com/v2/news/view/737975/big-break-for-small-players

A very interesting couple of months coming up, in my opinion, all starting this month.

Yes, indeed, @Aries.

It's ticking the right boxes as far as being involved in a growth sector and are a company planning and gearing up for internal growth. That's something that shouldn't be ignored when making an investment decision.

I highlighted yesterday three known points that will be coming up this month, with each of those having varying impacts on the share price. Don't discount the importance and possible effect of joining the Main Board of KLSE this month either, as Institutions/ Funds will probably add Solarvest to their Renewable Energy Sector portfolios. As part of a balanced portfolio, Institutions are required to spread their investments over all sectors.I'm sure they are well aware of the importance of this sector.

Looking at the bigger picture up to the 2025 deadline for the Malaysian government to ensure they reduce the country's carbon footprint by 20%, I believe solar is a major component of this goal. Some other countries have done a mix of solar and wind turbines but I believe solar is by far the most logical step for Malaysia. So that all points to steady solar growth in the foreseeable future, IMO.

Those points are the main reasons I decided to invest in this company. I'm not too interested in picking up a few pips profit and moving on, I'd rather hold and see how this plays out.

I'd be keen to hear your thoughts on these points.

Have a great day!

The global direction is going for green energy and solar technology is the cheapest and the most profitable renewable sourse available. As Solarvest is a leader in this area, its future is great.
IMO, There is one project which made it stand out. It has installed and commissioned the largest floating solar farm in selangor. This is the latest trend in solar technology as it can save space. https://www.thesundaily.my/business/malaysia-s-largest-floating-solar-power-plant-comes-onstream-FH4458315
Hence it is worth to invest.

Hi Papayasshot, for those listed companies directly involved in solar solution provider in Bursa, which are profitable and doing well so far, are Cypark and SLVEST. SLVEST is among the first batch of grid tied solar installation providers that obtained the certificate from SEDA, ISPQ and GCPV in Malaysia.

lsthien Biden almost win, this counter got any benefit on that?

In a word.......No.

IMO, the overall market has risen this week due to many expecting a "people friendly" budget.

Let's be blunt, the current PN government is hanging by a thread, so this budget is the perfect opportunity for them to appear as saviours of the rakyat and implement various financial incentives (handouts) to the lower income households.

My guess for the budget is to make it appear as helpful as possible, which of course will mean higher overall debt for the country.

I will also be VERY surprised if they don't implement the loan moratorium again, as that's an open goal for them to look good at no direct cost to the government.

I have no political affiliations, I hold them all with equal contempt, however no matter who was currently in power they would be looking at a perceived "people friendly budget" in this current Covid dilemma.

As for Solarvest, it has risen on positive overall market sentiment this week. Any positive news throughout the month should keep it firming steadily, IMO.

The first resistance point I mentioned a couple of weeks ago at 1.38 has been hit (it actually tickled 1.39 but we wont argue over one pip.

Now look for a consolidation period before a further possible move up to break 1.38.

Hopefully that rise will be announcement driven.

All the best.

Hi fruitcake.

The first Fibonacci pull back point on this recent rise is 1.31/1.32, which is the 23.6% retrace.

The second pull back point is 1.28/1.29, which is the 38.2% retrace.

The consolidation pull back has been fairly orderly so far, no mad panic profit taking.......nice.

All going well, once this consolidation is completed, we should be looking to break 1.38 and head towards somewhere around 1.55 to 1.60 with a few little speed bumps along the way. Too early to be more accurate.

Yes, a break of 1.60 will take the price into "blue sky" territory but there is a bit of work to do before it would get to that price point.

Currently I have 1.46 as the first overhead target in this recent move up. but it needs to pullback and consolidate from yesterday's very positive day.

Thank Shah.

A bit disappointed as I was hoping for a 1.30 placement price, as the numbers mentioned by the company a couple of weeks ago hinted that it could be a possibility.

On the positive side, they will now be well cashed up to pursue their growth plan, so get on with it chaps. :)
