Markmore, Petronas in Kazakh deal ?
By Francis Fernandez
Published: 2013/11/29
Quote :

KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Halim Saad seems to have received Petroliam Nasional Bhd’s (Petronas) backing in his oil venture in Kazakhstan.

It is reliably learnt that Halim’s Markmore Energy (Labuan) Ltd had signed an offtake agreement with Petronas for the planned sale and purchase of “methonal”.

The national oil corporation’s listed unit, Petronas Chemical Bhd, had agreed to purchase the methonal at a small discount to the prevailing market price.

Under the agreement, Petronas will acquire the methonal only if it conforms to the International Methanol Producers and Consumers Association’s standards.

Documents seen by Business Times reveal a key element of the agreement also requires Markmore to supply the methonal from Kazakhstan to any Europe’s safe port.

Markmore, which has invested more than RM300 million in the Central Asian nation, owns the concession in Kazakhstan’s Shelly oil field, which produces some 1,000 barrels of oil per day.

There are 47 wells in the oilfield but only five are operational, previous media reports seemed to suggest.

Getting Petronas involved in the offtake will lend credibility to the public-listed company.

Halim is currently using Sumatec Resources Bhd, which was on the local stock exchange’s delisting list, as his vehicle 12 years after the empire he had built crumbled during the 1997 Asian
financial crisis.

His game plan is simple. Since Markmore has a concession that will last until 2025, Sumatec will develop the Shelly oil field at its own cost in return for 100 per cent of net income of the first two million barrels and 50 per cent of net income
thereafter.

The exercise has helped Sumatec to raise more than RM600 million cash, increase its stock price by sixfold over two years and enabled Halim to secure 24 per cent of Sumatec, which, in spite of its PN17 status, is valued at more than RM800 million in the market.

Question ?

Why is there no query from Bursa or SC on the news report published in the New Straits Times neh ? Think many working in Bursa/SC must have invested good in New Suma Wannabe that they are too excited to have overlooked the matter !

They always seems to be "QUICK" on their query to force a respond from other PLCs !

Wonder what will be the "PRACTICE NOTE 17 / GUIDANCE NOTE 3: MONTHLY ANNOUNCEMENT

If Bursa/SC still no issue query leh, it shows inefficiency on the watch dog's part !

As per the Company's PRACTICE NOTE 17 / GUIDANCE NOTE 3: MONTHLY ANNOUNCEMENT, going by the previous :

["Reference is made to the Company's announcements made on 27 April 2012, 28 June 2012, 3 July 2012, 5 July 2012, 2 August 2012, 3 September 2012, 1 October 2012, 1 November 2012, 3 December 2012, 2 January 2013, 4 February 2013, 5 February 2013, 1 March 2013, 1 April 2013, 3 May 2013, 5 June 2013, 1 July 2013, 1 August 2013, 2 September 2013 and 1 October 2013.

The Company wishes to announce that there are no major developments on the status of plans to regularise the Company's financial condition other than those publicly announced.

This announcement is dated 1 November 2013."]

It should be 3 December 2013 unless it consider itself "OUT" of PN17, then don't have to announce loh ! [Talking about out of PN17, it is just a matter of time as officially it has to fullfill earnings of 3 consecutive quarters of profits!]

2 months oredi passed and Dec month left to achieve RM86 Million in profits ! Insider should have the figures for the first 2 months by now, waiting for insiders movement loh !

Trading of Sumatec share price should not be at lthis lowly level of 30sen if it is going "BIG TIME" ! Once out of PN17, Funds (both local and foreign) can then jump in to buy such shares and just you imagine how low can the "NEW SUMATEC" shares be trading at !

so far price has stood steadily at 0.30 even though directors have disposed significant shares & this implies me something good is coming but whether it is their gimmick play to trap us, we dont know but at least i view it as positive move.

If price will move higher High & form higher Low with ascending vol formation next week, aha!!! i will be 60% confident & can start to book 2 tickets for Franch next Xmas.

Just a matter for discussion, why PLCs in timber and Oil Palm Sectors need to furnish BURSA their monthly Logging and CPO and FFBO figures ?

Then how come Mining and Oil Sectors don't have to neh ? Could it be bcos no company doing mining in Gold leh so no grams nor ounces to report to BURSA . Then what about Oil Production Companies ? Don't tell me in Malaysia no Oil Production Company meh ? So, then Sumatec is the only One kar ? What about PETRONAS, does it ever report the numbers of Barrel of Oil extracted from their Oild Wells all over the World monthly ? The monthly production figures I mean ? Oh sori, PETRONAS is not listed !!!!!!!!! Gambateh !

To get to higher level, moves must be made now albeit slowly (to instil a culture of not a GORENG stock no more) as December is coming to an end and signals the beginning (new beginning, a New Sumatec) of the 1st quarter of earning Profit in the next report season !

http://www.theedgemalaysia.com/business-news/265593-tribesmen-blow-up-yemens-main-oil-export-pipeline.html

Now that the above has happened, Crude Oil Price upward bound ! This is good news to Oil Production Companies !

Since New Sumatec is now debt free and income generating, it is not that difficult for the major shareholders to bring the price of Sumatec to the next level to reflect it’s future potential. Investors, critrics and doubters are still not quite convinced at this stage without any lead, going forward !

Heard many have bad experience still with the “apa itu Company Saham” ? Macam Jack and Jill “RAN” up the “HILL” and before sampai separuh jalan sudah came TUMBLING DOWN !

My suggestion to the New Sumatec Maintenance Manager :

Perhaps it is good idea for the Sumatec’s CEO/CFO ( thru’ its’ corporate communication/or compliance) take the initiate to furnish it’s monthly production figures to Bursa/SC for dissemination to the investing public like those in the logging and Oil Palm Sectors. The Public and would be investors and possibly Gungho Funds may then form their own opinion on the future potential of Sumatec, the Company ! Whether it’s going to be a Mini Petronas in the making or otherwise. If the monthly Production Figures is xxx bopd (barrels of oil per day) and is within the target as scheduled, then the price will definitely moves up as investor confidence moves it without much work from the MAINTENANCE TEAM - period ! Just your monthly PRODUCTION FIGURES is enough to move mountains when the potential is there ! Do consider this suggestion !

Wish You an early, “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year” !

For TA players,

Sumatec may rebound after the firmer move yesterday. A purchase can be made if the stock closes above MYR0.31, with a close below MYR0.30 as the stop-loss. The price target is the MYR0.365 mark, should it crack the MYR0.35 resistance. A failure to get above MYR0.31, however, will likely see the stock decline, while the downside risk will increase if the stop-loss is triggered.

Some salient points to note :

*More and more PLCs jumping into the Oil and Gas Bandwagon Business and the latest is Prestariang !

** Heavyweights like Tan Sri Quek of HLGroup also has interest in THHEAVY n SONA

***SPAV : HIBISCUS, CLIQ n SONA --- All are PRODUCTION Wannabes Risk Takers but their pricing is way ahead of valuation if any at this stage ! Among them, Hibiscus is the front runner with better advantage but all their bizness involves high CAPEX and BIG RISK as offshore and dependent on “Act of God ! Comparing to Hibiscus current market share pricing of RM2.00, Sumatec with Oil oredi Flowing, debt free and Earnings from ever rising USD per barrel of Oil is how much now , it’s insane ?

Phew !

What a close shave I had with the "wild flower" !

Lucky to have averted from the ensuing muddy carnage that is expected to befall on this 'wild flower' comes boxing day onwards ! What a "BAD" announcement it was by the "Wild One" !

Of SPACs future hereafter - it's gonna be a "Long and Winding Road" ahead to attract investors not to mention players ! Its a no, no for now !

Too darn RISKY, too EXPENSIVE line of bizness to venture to with very low percentage of SUCCESS !

Any "may" be considering or thinking to refunding the collected IPO proceeds to the Shareholders ?

Pity those bot high and got trapped.

If them willing, swap them "wild shares" into "NEW SUMA" to recoup losses !

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all !

Mr. WahHaaHaa, I hv a suggestion. Why dont you post your stuff int the main Sumatec forum. There's a substantial bunch of Sumatec loyalists in there. I'm sure they'd appreciate your, I would say, quite formidable wisdom. Plus, it would also help us counter, to a significant extent, the negative vibes being emitted every once and again by some negativist posters.

BTW, pls allow me to copy-paste your first Sumatec-friendly post from this thread in that other forum. Thank you again for your gems of wisdom.

Finally New Sumatec is going places !

Private Placement !

Yeah, way to go and that's the way to grow too !

10% placement to shore up her "Capital Bank" for further expansion/acquisition at an WAMP for the last 5 days prior to price fixing (to complete within 2 months ) ! Cheers to all investors of Sumatec !

Wonder how high will Sumatec's market share price be pushed up within 2 months !

What's your take, Sumatec shareholders ?

Recaping :

Tan Sri Halim Saad is considering assigning the exploration rights for a new oil and gas (O&G) field in Kazakhstan to Sumatec Resources Bhd, which is on the verge of completing its regularisation plan by next month.
The new field, known as the Beta oil field, would be the second field after the Rakushechnoye O&G field in Kazakhstan that Sumatec would have rights to if Halim decides to do so, those in the know claimed.
When combined, both fields would have sizeable O&G resources for exploration over the next 20 to 30 years, they said.
The Beta field – covering an area of 248 sq km – is said to hold 105.97 million barrels of oil equivalent (mmboe). It is located in the northern side of the Mangystau province, which is known for its rich O&G resources.
Halim, when contacted yesterday, declined to comment on the Beta field but did say that “I am always on the lookout for new O&G fields”.
Halim is Sumatec’s major shareholder and holds the concession for the Rakushechnoye and Beta fields via his private companies. He had earlier assigned the rights to extract O&G at the Rakushechnoye field to Sumatec.
Upon completion of the regularisation exercise, Halim will own 25% equity stake in Sumatec, down from 27% at present. The new Sumatec board will comprise former attorney-general Tan Sri Abu Talib Othman (chairman), and directors Datuk Ahmad Johari Abdul Razak, Datuk Mohd Nasir Ahmad, Datuk Shireen Ann Zaharah Muhiudeen, Mohamad Ismail, Michael Lim Hee Kiang, Datuk Che Mokhtar Che Ali, James Chan Yok Peng, Wan Kamaruddin Biji Sura and Christopher Layton Dalton (also the CEO).
Halim, the corporate player of yesteryear, is making a comeback to the corporate sector via the O&G sector which is seen to be growing at a fast pace. He is one of the early birds to have scouted around for O&G fields in eastern Europe.
Sumatec has been bleeding red ink for the past five years and has been categorised as a Practice Note 17 (PN17) company since April 2011. As part of its regularisation plan to exit its PN17 status, it also has a rights issue to raise RM453mil. The proceeds will be used to fund its O&G activities at the Rakushechnoye oil field. With the O&G extraction works at the field, Sumatec is projecting RM86mil in profit for its current financial year ending Dec 31, 2013, and RM69mil for 2014.
For the Rakushechnoye field alone, Sumatec has direct access to oil reserves and gas resources of up to 331 mmboe.
“First, we have to discover more oil, and if we strike more, there would be more reserves. Most of the proven reserves are within 10% of the total area of the field in the north.
He added that upon the completion of its regularisation exercise, Sumatec would be the only “onshore O&G exploration company to be listed on Bursa Malaysia”.

Some say that striking OIL in an exploration is LIKE striking Lottery while others said that acquiring a RIGHTS LICENCE to operate a 3P Field is akin to acquiring a Lottery (Gaming) Licence. Whatever and whichever it is, it's a Good Acquisition to increase revenues and provide long term profits for the company. "Growing the Company" going forward !

Acquisition on Good Qualifying Assets have to be made FAST as Competition is immense among Big Oil Corporation and SPACs especially on "Good Quality 3P Brown Fields" or "3P Green Fields" !

As "Good Quality 3P Brown Fields" carries lesser "RISK" in as far as COST or CAPEX is concern, once identified must be acquired "FAST" and that's why a good "CAPITAL BANK" must be on stand by "FAST" too, else opportunity cost ! That's the "REAL" reason for the need to have tranches of Placement in place !

Hope this first tranche of 10% placement will be done at a higher price like say after End of February, share price of SUMATEC has climb up to at least RM0.56, then after 10% discount , placement will be done at RM0.50 thus netting a higher Capital ! Next tranches can be placed out up to RM1.00 and higher after more Oil are extracted/ produced from the acquired Oil Fields !
