Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui today urged the private sector to participate in government efforts to promote green technology.
Various incentives were provided to encourage the private sectorto adopt green technology in their production as well as when providing services, he told reporters after launching the "Green Kids" television programme here.
He said the government, through its 16 ministries, supported the effort to create environmental awareness by introducing the green technology policy under which the green technology council was established.
The idea was to pass the massage across to the people. When the government instructed all its offices to observe minimum air-conditioning temperature of 24 degrees Celsius, the private sector must also come in to ensure the effectiveness of the step, Chin said.
He also welcomed proposals and ideas from the public on the best way to pass the environmental awareness messages across and to promote green technology.
"Whatever we do, we must go green," he said, adding that the government would embark on a more aggressive campaign next year to promote green technology. -- BERNAMA
