My take on Year 2018

“1992 is not a year on which I shall look back with undiluted pleasure. In the words of one of my more sympathetic correspondents, it has turned out to be an annus horribilis” Queen Elizabeth speech on 24 November 1992, marking the 40th anniversary of her accession.

Annus horribilis is a Latin phrase, meaning "horrible year". It is complementary to annus mirabilis, which means "wonderful year"

Year 2018 shall be recorded as annus horribilis/horrible year for President Donald Trump and President Tsai Ing Wen who suffered heavy losses in USA and Taiwan mid-term election as the saying who live by the sword (Divisive politics) will die by the sword.

4.15am: It's official! Pakatan Harapan has secured 113 parliamentary seats, while its ally Parti Warisan Sabah won eight parliamentary seats. EC chief Mohd Hashim Abdullah said ousted coalition BN won 79 seats, PAS 18, Sabah state party Star one, and independent candidates three seats. All seats have been announced.

Syukur Alhamdulillah. Praise be to the Almighty for having answered our collective prayers and for having prevailed, to enable us to realise what we wanted to achieve. This victory’s battle cry has lost its resonant with Malaysians as the painful rebuild, the cost cutting/belt tightening measures, the anti-ICRED rally, the infighting/bickering within and between coalition parties, the inexperience cabinet ministers many policy U turn and disunity among ministers, officers, ranks and files are so observe for all to see. The million dollar question: Can PH government able to reform and rebuild our country and set it on a course towards unity, justice and prosperity.

I have a dream; I dream of a day this nation of ours will rise up and live up the true meaning as proclaim by our Nation Founder Father Tunku Abdul Rahman at Independent day and Malaysia day: “forever a sovereign democratic and independent State founded upon the principles of liberty and justice and ever seeking the welfare and happiness of its people / ever seeking to defend and uphold peace and harmony among its people.”

Are the Principles of liberty and justice, upholding peace/unity and harmony and ever seeking the welfare and happiness of Malaysian people remains an elusive dream?

Back to i3 investment fraternity, the result of Stock Pick Contest Year 2018 told a horrible year for most of the investors. And for Super-Investor Mr. Koon Yew Yin his year turn from horrible to disaster as he had his fair share of humiliation and humbling moment in suffering repeat margin call and huge losses in JAKS. Unbelievable after hoodwinked (kena jampi) by JAKS Vietnam IPP BS (super bullish on vision 2020 profit growth) and promoting JAKS since March 2017, finally he woke up and cleared out all his JAKS holding at a total loss of RM 64 million and become extremely bearish on JAKS: quote “Debt per share RM 2.31. It can only report losses in the next few years. Why should you buy when the company cannot report any profit.” unquote.

Note: Mr. Koon get himself into political trouble by his light hearted political article “Is a Title so Important?” where he implied Datoships titlle for sales and even playfully posted this question “I am just wondering whether I can overcome my ego if I am offered a Tan Sri by the Federal Government.” He further aggravated his untenable situation with another political article “Perak Sultan Has No Right to Stop My Appointment” and immediately draw a rebuttal from Perak MB that is was his decision to revoke Mr. Koon appointment as Perak State Economic Advisory Council (SEAC) member. Sorry uncle Koon (No Dato’ or Tan Sri title just a heartwarming uncle) no hard feelings it seems I can’t resist to picks on your misfortune but the fact is you are a towering and exceptional Malaysian and many people look up to you and the year 2018 will be incomplete and meaningless without mentioning you.

On the brighter note, I am glad to see some young people; the most misunderstood generation Y and Z (A generation growth up on internet connectivity, smart phone, social media, instant information, instant gratification, instant anxiety, instant keyboard cyber warrior, instant cyber friends but lack real friends and social skill, instant success with internet games but lack skill in actual sport games, instant impact and make instant different in cyber-world, impatient/indifferent, overconfident/insecurity, well read/inexperience, arrogant/ignorance and believe that they can make an instant  impact/difference in their workplace) come forth to the work place/i3 investor forum/blog and brought with them a breath of fresh air into i3. It is my hope that with their new idea, dedication and passion, i3 will become the training ground for them to hone their skills and nurture them into a force to be reckoned with.

Year 2018 end with a Bear at our doorstep so why not invites him inside to have a cup of tea and chit-chatting while waiting for the Bull to charge in. Meanwhile everyone seems to be busy with something to do:

• The TA chartists have run out of uptrend stocks to recommend and now are busy buying properties.
• The brave and young hearted FA fundamentalists have a field day and spoilt for choice on what value stocks to pick but unfortunately they only have limited fund.
• The traders are busy practicing their super human reflex in trying to steal some meals from shark’s jaw.
• The naysayers and prophets of doom are super busy with cut-loss, water fall, new low list and run-run-run.
• The preacher is busy teaching people how to survive a tsunami.
• SarifahSelinder is busy looking high and low for someone to enlighten her on JAKS financial account year 2017 Vietnam IPP USD account. Current assets Note: under amount due from customers on contracts is advances received from customer included in other payables RM 276,926,850
• Hollandking is busy practicing meditation and will tell you, your world is not real and all is an illusion from your mind like the movie “The Matrix”.
• Probability is busy searching for scientific answer to life and oneself and is fascinated by “LSD experiments” that opened up new senses and allowed one to experience another dimension of reality. • The PLP king is busy sharpening his trading skill/kills and searching for his new idol super-trader/water fish to PLP/deceives like a lamb to the slaughter.
• The impartial, respected and witty referee dragonslayer is busy in settling disputes amongst the forum commentators, conducting survey, ensure rule of law are adhered to but was red flagged by many for vulgarity and sent to sin bin to repent by admin.
• The PHD aspirant is busy researching why human being likes to chase high, sell low and should we think like robot buy low, sell high.
• The educators are busy teaching you the correct way to invest and not gambling away your fortune till cry father cry mother like crybaby AlanNga.
• The fund managers/listed company CEOs on holidays and are busy in spending their fat bonus they paid themselves.
• The business owners are busy in cost saving/cutting, while our PH government have no clue what hit them and how to respond

So welcome to year 2019 and i3 community where we make dream come true/ruin, make what seem impossible possible and create the illusion of wealth; now you see it, now you don’t. (Gone with the wind)

Whishing all a Happy New Year and May your year 2019 full with happiness, laughter, health, love, peace of mind and plentiful $$$$$$$. Hoping the year 2019 will turn up as a Annus Mirabilis.

P/S: Don’t forget to make your New Year resolutions.  As for me I only make one resolution some year ago. To Be a Better Man. Here I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the interesting people I’ve met and yet to meet during 2018 who had inspired and helped me to be a better man.
