Lim Kian Onn quits AAX board after being made ECM Libra deputy chairman

KUALA LUMPUR (June 16): Datuk Lim Kian Onn has resigned as AirAsia X Bhd's (AAX) non-independent and non-executive director following his appointment as deputy chairman of ECM Libra Group Bhd.

Lim, 65, resigned from AAX's board effective June 10. "The signed resignation letter was received by the company on Thursday, June 16," the airline said in a bourse filing.

Lim was only on June 1 redesignated as AAX's non-independent and non-executive director from deputy chairman.

He was appointed as deputy chairman in October 2020 to lead the airline's restructuring. He had been a board member of AAX since 2012.

Lim founded the Libra Capital Group in 1994 and co-founded the ECM Libra in 2002.

He was the managing director of ECM Libra (formerly known as ECM Libra Financial Group Bhd) from July 2015 and was subsequently redesignated as non-executive director on June 1, 2020.

AAX shares settled unchanged at 53 sen, bringing a market capitalisation of RM219.9 million.
