Liverpool's owners Fenway Sports Group brought Dalglish's 18-month reign to an end with an emotional tribute, duly recognising the Scot's legendary status and enduring contribution as both player and manager.
Their decision followed face-to-face talks with the 61 year-old in America earlier this week when it became apparent the manager would be forced to step down due to an inconsistent season. He had returned to Merseyside while the terms of his and assistant Steve Clarke's departure were finalised.
Dalglish lost his job because of a poor sequence of Premier League results and performances, particularly since January, leaving Liverpool well short of the top-four ambition set by owner John W Henry.
There was a mood of melancholy at Anfield as Dalglish's exit was confirmed with glowing praise from his bosses.
'Kenny will always be more than a championship winning manager, more than a championship winning star player,' Henry said. 'He is in many ways the heart and soul of the club. He personifies everything that is good about Liverpool Football Club. He has always put the Club and its supporters first. Kenny will always be a part of the family at Anfield.

Just like in stock-markets, no one care much about who you are ... they want 'quick' results. They want to win trades after trade in the first year itself!! Laying strong foundation in the team is very important. You have to respect Sir Alex for what he has done for MU. Bravo. He is a legend.
I don't see anyone good to replace Dalglish as they won't last. The 'boss' want instant results. The supporters losing the patience .. and letting the team to walk alone. It is a sad era ... for ardent Liverpool fans like me. I carried Liverpool with me, literally speaking.
Today is a sad history ... and we are at 8th position, even below Everton. It is hard to tell non-football supporters. This year ... I missed some of their matches. I could not take the pain of seeing the team beaten by so many lower ranked team such as Swansea. Liverpool is a history ... and realistically, they could not compete consistently anymore.
At times, we love our stocks so much ... we do not want to let go ... but seeing the stock sinking lower, we will feel the pain. I dont really love stocks ... they are just for trading and if I dont like my sinking stocks for wrong fundamental reasons, I could cut-loss, even tho it is of big losses. But ... I could NEVER cut off Liverpool from my life. Never. They have been with me for 30 plus years ... the first team I love watching ... and been loyal walking with the team.
Fundamentally flawed since sold to the Americans. The love for the clubs is fading ... money do the talking. Good loyal players like Gerrard or Carra are few to come by. Missed those old days ... when we could beat any team. The sun is setting on the club, yet loyal fans like me will still hope they could turn around next season ... or another season ... or another decade!!
To all the Liverpool fans out there ... be strong. Together we shall always sing ... "You Never Walk Alone"

The boss praise the manager yet still dismiss him. What a mockery.
