MyEG distances itself from Zahid charges, seeks clarification from MACC

KUALA LUMPUR: My EG Services Bhd has distanced itself from corruption charges against former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

In a statement to the stock exchange, the company said it is seeking clarification from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on the details of the charges and seeks confirmation that it is not a party to the investigation.

"An announcement will be released in regard to this clarification once MACC has replied," it said.

Citing news reports, MyEG clarified that it has never made any payments in the process of securing government concessions.

The company said it has no knowledge of or contact with Mastoro Kenny IT consultant & Services, the company alleged to have made payment to Zahid for help in securing MyEG contracts.

It added that it has no knowledge of the dealings between Mastoro and Zahid and has never appointed any vendors or contractors in its dealings with the Home Ministry.

Trading in MyEG shares has been suspended for the afternoon session. The stock last traded at RM1.13 after having slid 37 sen or 25% in very active trade.
