PETALING JAYA: Ministers in the new Cabinet have one year to get their act together, says the Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF).
MEF president Datuk Dr Syed Hussain Syed Husman said this could only be achieved if there was political stability to allow the ministers to focus on their work.
“We hope all parties will work in unison as Keluarga Malaysia to move our country forward,” he said in a statement.
Syed Hussain said it is crucial that those appointed focus on reviving the economy under a more stable political environment.
“Employers are faced with increasing Covid-19 issues amid a very weak economy with business suffering and the new budget on the horizon.
“The business community and the people are very tired and stressed out. We hope the appointed ministers will work as a team to overcome the issues,” he said.
Malaysian Medical Association president Datuk Dr Subramaniam Muniandy said against the backdrop of the raging Covid-19 crisis, Khairy Jamaluddin has his work cut out for him as the new Health Minister.
“His ministerial experience will stand him in good stead. We look forward to fresh and innovative ideas in managing the pandemic.
“We hope the setting up of a health commission to steer Malaysia out of the pandemic will be top on the minister’s agenda.
“There are also many longstanding issues such as permanent positions for contract doctors which we hope will be resolved during his term in office,” he said in a press statement.
Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia president Datuk Dr Kuljit Singh said Khairy has the advantage of having experience in a portfolio related to the health sector.
“Our public-private partnership is ongoing, so we will work with the minister to enhance this further so that it can be strengthened,” he said.Independent health policies specialist Dr Khor Swee Kheng said while Khairy has successfully set up a good framework for the vaccination programme, a more holistic public health response is needed to tackle the pandemic.
“He will need to focus on other elements of public health like testing, tracing, lockdowns and standard operating procedure,” he said when contacted.

Please relax/revamp the MM2H requirement. Tight requirement might get you a lots of free votes during election, but it is not helping the economy or the country. Our own people cannot afford the oversupplied properties.

Politic unity also no use as the country run by useless people. They already damaged our economy very badly when they lockdown the country. Very bad judgement.

Well, we should not condemn the Government on whether lock up will bring adverse effects to the economy. When covid just emerge in Malaysia, all of us possess little knowledge of it, ie. how to handle it, knowledge on mode of covid transmission, any medicine to prevent/cure, etc. Later, we learnt that covid is air-bone disease mostly via personal contact. So, the next step taken by Malaysia was via lock down which i think is a reasonable move/measures. And even now lock down has been continued particularly in heavy infected regions/states but the covid cases kept surging due to Delta variants. What i am trying to say here is no body can guarantee the measures taken will be success and even the whole world as you can read from the news in view this covid and Delta is new to the world. The mistake i reckoned was during PH times when Tun M allowed the visitors from China to enter Malaysia when Wuhan was in a high stage of covid infected areas.

It's high time for both Harapan and Umno to reduce the super high political temperature! Wait for GE15!
Focus on rakyat and Covid! Do they realise that we are now top 10 most ineffective nation in dealing with Covid!
Malaysia has the highest infections rate and highest death rate too! It's unacceptable!

That is why opposition side are invited for join effort to handle the covid. Lets wait and see the Government's first move as oppositions are waiting and this can be a hot topic in GE15.

Politics is finally stable. Now many feel safe to invest in Malaysia. Although the covid case is still high, it will be OK soon after people adjust to new SOP which requires a lots of self-discipline.
