KUALA LUMPUR: The 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) unveiled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today is a comprehensive development blueprint that will introduce several transformative approaches.
In his speech while tabling the 12MP at the Dewan Rakyat today, he said these approaches will not only help to the nation to achieve sustainable economic growth but also fair distribution of wealth and opportunities.
The 12MP, he said, encompasses three themes and comprises 14 catalytic policy enablers and 14 game changers.
"The government will continue with whole-of-nation approach that involves the entire government machineries and agencies, industries and the people with one mission in mind - that is to carry out transformation with the rolling out of the 12MP.
"These transformative approaches are not limited to only generate wealth for the nation.
"It will be implemented to help the country weather economic structural challenges, providing future employment opportunities, elevating the wellbeing of Keluarga Malaysia as well as reducing regional development gap.
"In addition, these approaches will ensure a more effective implementation in the delivery system to the rakyat," said Ismail Sabri.
He said the four main target indicators of the 12MP are :
- First: Growth of the country's Growth Domestic Product (GDP) between 4.5 per cent and 5.5 per cent per annum with the 2021-2025 period;
- Second: Average household income of about RM10,000 monthly in 2025;
- Third: To reduce the GDP per capita gap between central region and Sabah (reduce to 1:2.5) as well as between central region and Sarawak (reduce to 1:1.2) by the year 2025; and,
- Fourth: Reduce Green House Gas (GHG) intensity emissions to a total 45 per cent of the country's GDP in 2030 based on intensity emission in 2005, in line with the Paris Agreement 2015.
The prime minister also shared the nine main focus' under the 12MP. They are:
- First : Boosting the country's economic growth;
- Second : Strengthening economic growth catalyst;
- Third : Enhancing the wellbeing of Keluarga Malaysia;
- Fourth : Enhancing nation unity and public order;
- Fifth : Eradicate hardcore poverty and minimise income gap;
- Sixth : Empower Bumiputera and Keluarga Malaysia agenda;
- Seventh : Multiplying growth in Sabah, Sarawak and other less developed states;
- Eighth : Accelerating green growth; and,
- Ninth : Strengthening the public service delivery and ensure policies are implemented effectively.
