WILL Penang have a PAS chief minister and Selangor and Negri Sembilan have a PAS Mentris Besar after the six state polls in August?

Perikatan Nasional (PN) and PAS are working to achieve this objective, which must be denied.

PN president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin dismissed concerns that the PN coalition would resort to playing up issues surrounding race, religion and royalty in the upcoming election campaigns.

But who alleged that Penang has been turned into an Israel and that “azan” with the use of loudspeakers has been banned in Penang?

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Sultans of Selangor, Kedah and Terengganu have expressed concerns about having clean elections in the six state polls and the importance of political stability and national unity in Malaysia.

For this reason, I applaud the Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail for asking the new Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and the new Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay to focus on addressing hate speech that touches on race, religion and royalty.

For the two new top cops, their greatest immediate challenge is to ensure that the six state polls are not blemished by lies, falsehoods, fake news and hate speech.

Are all the competing political parties and candidates prepared to reach a Code of Ethics in the six state polls by renouncing lies, falsehoods, fake news and hate speech in the election campaign and agreeing to a mechanism where such lies, falsehoods, fake news and hate speech could be immediately exposed and condemned? - June 25, 2023
