KOTA BARU: Kelantan Umno Youth chief Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani has been announced as Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Nenggiri state seat by-election.

The announcement was made by State Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, who is also the party's operations director for the Aug 17 by-election.

Jazlan said the party agreed to field Azmawi in the by-election after it was approved by Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi last night.

He said the party believed that Azmawi, who is also Gua Musang Umno division Youth chief, is capable to help BN to wrest the seat from the opposition in the by-election.
