Trade at your own risk. I am here only to vomit out my feelings

Recent Dynamic Investing successes.

Let me record them before the old brain forgets

                   Price first entered         Price -Latest

Hibiscus              30 sen                         48.5 sen

Ekovest          $ 1.70                            $ 2.52

AeonCr           $ 13.00                          $ 15.46

Magnitech       $ 4.20                            $ 4.81

CSC Steel       $ 1.70                           $ 2.29

Jaks                $ 1.06                          $ 1.17

FLHB              $ 1.60                           $ 1.69

Latitude            $ 4.90                          $ 5.35

Important too......I had no disasters that triggers my 10% cut loss rule.

Hibiscus

Opec agreement to support oil price is the catalyst remembering that the last time there is an agreement not to cut production led to a two years long price decline in oil prices.

Sold at 53 .

Will not be re-entering as it becomes a top heavy hot stock.

 Ekovest

The catalyst was the intention to monetise Dukes 1 & 2., and Duke 3

AeonCR

The catalyst is the gradual recovery in share price after years of decline ...oddly enough, the last few years saw its fundamentals improving every year, the share price declining from $ 20 to $ 12.00+. concurrently.

MagniTech

Was looking for an exporter that is not furniture. Choose this over Prolexus as not comfortable with the huge earnings dilution from the Rights Issue.

CSC Steel

Game changer with the closure of Mega Steel and anti dumping duty on imports of end products from China

Jaks

Transforming into Vietnam IPP

FLHB

Will have an impressive upcoming results

Latitude

Furniture exporter to gain from US$

Interestingly too.....all the above comments have been posted in i3 in the relevant threads during the said times. when I  entered.

Calvin bought Jaks at only 40 cts due to Langat 2. Jaks has 6 feet diameter water pipe. Since Jaks jumped to Rm1.20 (up 200%) Calvin thinks too high to chase Jaks now.

I don't buy Jaks for its pipes.

I already made 2 rounds from Prestar and also made 2 rounds from Jaks.

10 years ago I bought Jaks when one Kl insider told me about Jaks.

I bought Jaks at 60 cts. Told my remisier to sell of Jaks when price doubled to Rm1.20 for a nice 100% gain.

After selling Jaks powered up near Rm1.40 and I was surprised that I still got some Jaks another Remisier forgot to sell. So I happily sold off all into strength.

Then in December 2014 I saw Jaks fell back to 40 cts and I bought back.

Ha! Jaks jumped to Rm1.20 this round for a fantastic 200% upside!

Now Jaks being so cyclical is not worth chasing any more.

Time when Calvin called for buy on Jaks few people bothered. Now Jaks up only 'expert sorchai' come out to promote.

What a joke!

another major difference is your Dynamic Investing involves "cunning" timing of exit

my Value Trading is more for Dumb Dumb Hold

hmm.... not really... if you can get 20% to 30% return per annum, then it is considered worth the effort already

I can never make money from stocks like Hibiscus... I am too slow and too square for that...

guys, I always say don't judge a man by what he says, judge him by what he does

if you look at stockman portfolio, even though he depicts himself as "opportunistic trader", the stocks he pick are mostly good quality stocks

the same applies to KC Chong. He ask people to buy stocks based on DCF valuation, etc... But my study of him showed that he buys and sells very much like raiders, me and stockman.

as far as I am concerned, Icon, stockman, KC and Raiders all have very similar stock pricking strategy. It is the way they describe themselves make them look like they have differences. Instead, I think they have more similarities than differences

Super investors should not have emotions involved. Just the cold hard facts. Others get 40 sen I get $ 1.10 no big deal.

Timing is very very important.
I mean we do not have unlimited patience and certainly no unlimited capital.

2017-01-18 11:36

Icon8888

yes

buy sell decisions are based on valuation, which is based on future earnings

history has no bearing

2017-01-18 11:36

Icon8888

agree again. Holding too long term without a good reason will expose you to all kind of risks

By and large, I am satisfied with my entry timing.
The only aspect I trying to improve is timing of exit. I always sell too early and leave too much on the table.

stockraider

Thats why i m saying mammy...u need to have a longer run strategy n make few 100%....but that means u need to have conviction on ur share u buy n not simply been shaken out, when price temp reverse loh...!!

2017-01-18 11:42

Dynamic investing will go where there is money to be make.
Try to assess gain vs loss and got a good ratio in the shortest time.

2017-01-18 11:57

conviction is not an easy thing.
It depends on the personality.

The more one knows how the world works, the less conviction one has on any thing.

Professors and lawyers can convince the judges and themselves on any thing.

Modern men, civilised men, knowledgeable men can hold contradicting views in the head concurrently.

who got good convictions?
I know the less educated have more convictions, most of the time.....just like Donald Trump supporters.

Forest Gump got lots of conviction...and a blessed life.

Dealing with contradictions.
Let me give you an example from modernity.

Its freedom and equality.

Two key words everyone holds dear to.

But beknown to them, freedom and equality are contradictions

Where you have more of one, you will have less of the other.

but even very smart people can have both ideas in the brain concurrently.

The problem of Mammy...is one he lose the discussion ...he may make all sort of accusation on raider loh....!!

Must have discipline loh....!!

I think stockraider is the a smart investors and not empty vessel as other claimed.

1st, you must understand where he worked before . I knew he worked for legend Neo Soon Kean before he turned to full time investors.

2nd, what he contributed in I3 investors forum make sense to me.

3rd, I can imagine he must have made a lot of money this year. from the ways he throw out the challenge to i3 toikors , but no takers.

Wait ah let me count...one two three four and five! Five old men stroking themselves talking about the good ol' past lel

plpmanmy ask your master old man koon to set up the stock competition and tell him rm200k first prize will only attract monkeys, small timer micro sub-50mil penny stocks where liquidating will mean telling people to buy, when he's selling he he he

And then you shall see the pros come out to play

Timing is every thing.

Make hay while the sun shines.

I don't care what formulas, what ratios you use

You are not likely to make money while every one else is losing their pants.

Its all in the probabilities.
