(Kuala Lumpur 13 Sep) The Associated Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Malaysia (ACCCIM) will be embarking on a plan for Alibaba Group chairman Jack Ma to visit Malaysia, riding on the strength of Chinese corporations to lead the Malaysian economy to a new direction.

ACCCIM deputy president Tan Sri Lim Sing is currently attending the 13th China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning. When meeting Ma at the expo, he has raised the possibility of Ma to visit ASEAN and Malaysia.

Lim, in accepting a phone interview of Sin Chew Daily, said when dealing with Ma, he was quick to realise the latter’s new vision of development in ASEAN and looking forward to start a “Belt and Road” tour and visit Malaysia.

Convinced by his smart thoughts

Lim said he is convinced by Ma’s smart thought on corporate development. Ma has many unique views. He is convinced by Ma’s capability in leading the largest corporation in China.

At the opening ceremony of 13th China-ASEAN expo held in Nanning yesterday, Ma said China – ASEAN region is the most populated economic alliance. ASEAN is the most dynamic region in global economy offering hope and opportunities.

“Alibaba would expand its development and investment in ASEAN regions.”

Lim said after listening to Ma’s speech and when both had private conservation, he felt that the time is right for ACCCIM to embark its effort on planning Ma’s visit to Malaysia.

He is frank that if ACCCIM is capable of getting Ma to visit Malaysia for the first time, it would be generating new models for corporate, business, e-commerce, digital properties and future developments.

Drastic change for all sectors in next 30 years

He agrees with Ma’s view that all industries and sectors would undergo drastic changes in the next 30 years. Data would be the core resources.

“Ma has new views on ASEAN. He has also touched on new technology bringing development to developing countries with leaps and bounds. E-commerce is able to play a key role in future in ASEAN economy.”

Lim leads more than 20 ACCCIM council members for a five-day trip in Nanning. He is scheduled to return to Malaysia tomorrow.

Lim said unlike other corporate tycoons, Ma is down to earth like an old friend.

He hoped to continue on work to have Ma visit Malaysia after returning home for this corporate genius to step foot on Malaysia.

Sin Chew proposes Ma for a visit to Malaysia through Alibaba official website

Through Alibaba’s official website, Sin Chew Daily has inquired about Ma’s intention to visit ASEAN and Malaysia.

Sin Chew Daily also relayed the message of Malaysian corporates, business circle, e-commerce, data development and even cultural and property sectors are looking forward to Ma visiting Malaysia.

ADVISER JACK MA TO START WITH E-FTZ

BEIJING: Alibaba founder and executive chairman Jack Ma will kick-start his role as adviser to the Malaysian Government on its digital economy at the launch of a e-free trade zone (e-FTZ) in March.

Ma, a global business icon, has ideas on the set up of the e-trade zone, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said yesterday.

“I had a (30-min) meeting with Mr Jack Ma. He has agreed to be adviser to our Government on the digital economy,” said the Prime Minister.

“Jack Ma did not ask for payment. I don’t think we can afford to pay him,” Najib said in jest later to a reporter’s question.

In his Budget 2017 speech last month, Najib announced that a digital economy that includes e-commerce would be Malaysia’s next growth strategy as this could bring about double-digit growth.

Alibaba is the largest and most well-known e-commerce giant in China and the world.

“We will be in partnership with Ma on the path and route to the future,” said Najib before launching the Alitrip Tourism Malaysia Pavilion in collaboration with Alibaba Group.

Najib said Malaysia would have to act fast to implement Alipayment, further develop online banking and online commerce as “we don’t want to miss the boat”.

On the pavilion, Najib said: “You can see that China is the place to be. It has 300 million middle-class people, larger than the US population.

“We hope, together with Alibaba, we can make Malaysia and China more prosperous,” he said.

Ma, before launching the pavilion jointly with Najib with the premier’s mobile phone, urged Chinese tourists to visit Malaysia and enjoy the culture there.

“We have a long history between these two countries. About 2,000 years ago, Chinese went to Malaya to make a living. Now, we should go there to enjoy life – not to survive,” said Ma.

He took the opportunity to pay tribute to the Prime Minister’s father for having the foresight to be the first leader in Asean to establish diplomatic ties with China when others shunned the republic for being a communist nation.

“Today, we are benefiting from this decision made 42 years ago. Malaysia is China’s largest trading partner in Asean and China is Malaysia’s biggest trading partner.”

On Malaysians, he noted that on average each Malaysian has 230 friends on his social network.

“This means Malaysians are friendly, trusting and inclusive. This is an excellent culture.

“I love Malaysia… you have the culture, environment, food and hospitality and inclusiveness.”

JackMa of Alibaba might go into JV with POS Malaysia just like he is now 2nd Top Shareholders of Singpost.

And DRB is Top owner with 53.5% of POS

This is the reason why Calvin Tan Research call for a strong buy on POS & DRB
