His career began in 1980 when he joined Poh Kong Jewellers Sdn. Bhd. as a Sales Representative and shareholder. He was appointed Managing Director of Poh Kong Jewellers (Klang) Sdn. Bhd. in 1985. He oversees the daily operations of the outlets in Bukit Raja, Shaw Centre Point and Jade Gallery. He assists Dato' Choon Yee Seiong in the Group's overseas expansion in China. He also holds directorships in Jungmax Property Sdn. Bhd.

Mr. Choon's siblings Dato' Choon Yee Seiong, Madam Choon Nee Siew, Madam Choon Yoke Ying, Madam Choon Wan Joo, Encik Mohd Annuar Choon Bin Abdullah, Mr. Choon Yee Bin, Madam Choon Ching Yih and Madam Choong Bee Chu are shareholders of the Company.
