Ini Kali lah....
It's still at early stage of the run . A lot more upsides even if CPO stay above $4,000 .

Regarding the impact of labour shortage on plantations , you can be assured that the plantations management know how to prioritize work ( harvesting come first) and to improve productivity of existing workers . There are many things plantations can do to reduce usage of labour eg. Using compound fertilizers that requires less application , further push for mechanization in weeding and fertilizer application, etc.
2021-05-09 16:00 | Report Abuse
Cost of production increase won’t be very much , at most $100 per mt CPO due to higher labour and fertilizer costs. But CPO price surged by $ thousand. Why have to worry about minor cost increase? Plantations with borrowing save substantial bank interest due to lower interest rate.

Due to cyclically low production in Q1, the benefits of high CPO price will not be that superb though it will still be remarkably higher yoy. The record earnings will come in q2 and Q3 as production cycle swing up as usual.

Although it is unrealistic to expect CPO to continue staying at today’s price level , the plantations will still be laughing to the bank even if average price of $3,500 is achieved for the next couple of years. Anything above that is super profit .
Plantations companies enjoy extremely strong cash flow and have no problem to pay special and high dividend from their earnings.

With CPO cost of production ranging from $1,500 for the efficient plantation and $1,900 for the most ineffecient plantations, they all are enjoying huge huge profit margin with CPO at today's price of $4,800 .

Windfall tax is nothing new for Palm oil . It was already introduced since 2008. Pls read the news above .
Palm oil is already the only commodity most heavily taxed! I don't think there is any further change to the system.

I think investors need to see solid earning results before jumping in. Q1 results may not be fantastic due to generally lower production y-o-y. Fantastic results will come in Q2 which will be reported in Aug.

many local analysts know nothing about CPO market dynamic and yet making forecast from thin air. Since months ago they predicted CPO to plunge from March /Apr due to increasing production. Instead of plunging CPO is surging . They still refuse to eat their humble pie and continue to cast doubt on the strength of CPO and continue to work with the media to highlight only the negatives. Seriously lack of professionalism!

I think it is ok to retain 50% for investment and pay 50% as dividend especially the cashflow in the next 2 financial years is going to be very strong. 6 sen is only 1.5% dividend yield ! I have no respect for leadership and the BOD who don't look after the interest of the general investing public.

@Jonathan, I think bplant will pay out 70-80% of it's annual profit as dividend as the parent company bstead holding need it badly too. Although bplant is still having about $2 bil borrowing, they have no hurry to pare it down as interest rate is presenly low and the borrowing is solidly backed by valuable landbank. Merely selling 2,000 acres of land )which is only a small fraction of the total landbank ) near the development area is sufficient to raise $2bil to completely repay the borrowing.

@lLetsfly, what I merely said is when CPO was at $3,000 in early Jan 20, bplant was already $0.75. i didn't try to justify whether $0.75 then was a fair valuation or not. I only try to draw stock price comparison when CPO was $3,000 then and $4,600 now.
2021-05-04 17:07 | Report Abuse
Today's share price increase merely a small recovery to the previous month selldown. It is still below the share price of $0.75 when CPO was merely $3,000 in early Jan 2020. As such , the plantation stock prices have a lot to catch up to fair valuation.

Swkplant is the biggest beneficiariy in both increasing production and substantially higher CPO price. I suspect the double benefits ) production and price) is explosive and will also lead to substantially higher dividend payout .

Per shareholders list as at 29/3/21 appears in 2020 annual report, I notice quite a few shareholders in the 30 largest list have their shareholding increased quite substantially vis-a-vis the daily traded volume in the past 1-2 years. These shareholders appears to be the 'friendly parties'.
2 new funds ie affin hwang tactical fund and SSBT emerging fund make it to top 30 list for the first time .
Something to think about .
