Corruption is everywhere.
US senators privy to insider info sold all their shares in Feb 2020 ahead of the common men. Then avail themselves to the huge opportunity to buy back again when Wall Street fell to its lows. It is legal ! - legalized corruption.

Venezuela crisis is mainly due to US n western sanctions. They voted in a government that is not pro-US, so it is not accepted. This is the type of democracy the US profess. It is all about a master-slave relationship.
Well, Mr Lim, US is no longer the beacon on the hill. The era of 1960s during the communist threat is no longer there. Russia is non-communist. China has reformed itself so much so that it is not in a real sense a communist. But China still uses the word 'communist' while it practise "control capitalism". To them it is good because other countries won't copy them n put them on the same competitive level.

Unsecured loans are part and parcel of the banking industry. Nothing unusual about it if you have been in the banking industry. Every business has its risk n this is the risk of the banking industry.
All big international banks participate in syndicated loans to those big names in the international arena. Unless, gomen makes rules to stop it.
If Nestle request for an unsecured loan, will the banks lend to them ?

What we do know is that EPF and PNB will suffer big losses from GHK fallout! So do our local banks that gave unsecured loans! However, it's tiny compare to overall investment of EPF and PNB!
Hi Tobby, I assume you are saying EPF n PNB hold shares in Genting HK. With all the experts inside EPF n PNB, why did they not cut loss earlier ? Cutting loss early is part n parcel of investment in the stock market.

This is the risk of the banking industry. In good times, nobody ever complain about it. Banking is not for the timid.

Fed is reducing its bond purchases, not stop purchasing. Interest rate will not rise big time. There is no such thing as normalisation of QE. QE cannot be normalised. The Treasury issued the bonds and Fed bought the bonds. China is not buying the bonds. So, from the right hand to the left hand.

sharefisher! Because not worth saving! He walks away! Let creditors deal with it!
I am of the same view. German government ask him to guarantee 600million Euros in order to qualify for aid. The German gomen moved the goalpost when the time came for drawdown of the promised aid.
The aid is meant to save the shipyard n continued employment of its staff. With this new condition, why must he take a great risk ?? He can simply start another cruise venture n just buy the ships without the shipyard. The rest of his investments are intact. Post restructuring, Genting HK might well be a more nimble company after debt haircut without the shipyard.

Restructuring means you do not have to pay in full every $$ that you owe.
Even if HK Genting is liquidated, the boss does not lose everything. This family trust owns substantial shares in Las Vegas casino, Genting Singapore n also own shares in Genting Bhd, Genm..
The boss has already made his calculations years ago. He decouple HK Genting completely from Genting Bhd n Genm.
He can start another new company to take the cruise business if he wants to. Like new low cost airlines starting operations with lower cost structure n devoid of debts to take on Airasia.
By the time Genting HK is restructured, the pandemic would probably have ended.

JOHANNESBURG: The omicron variant of coronavirus can help build herd immunity in societies due to its high transmissibility, South African virologists said on Thursday (Jan 13).
With milder symptoms and lower mortality rates, omicron differs from other strains, according to scientific data gathered over 50 days period after the variant was detected in South Africa and Botswana.
Gert Van Zyl, a professor at the Department of Medical Virology of Stellenbosch University, told Anadolu Agency that omicron was less deadly than other variants as it caused milder symptoms.
Due to its high transmissibility, it could help build herd immunity as it is has been observed in people who previously recovered from the coronavirus, as well as those who had been vaccinated, it quoting Zyl said.

I order my product from shopee n it was delivered but they do not message you when they would be coming to yr house. A private car stopped at my gate n the driver handed me the product.
Whereas, Lazada Express message you and tell you when they will be coming n this make a lot of difference.

20 years ago, a friend of mine tried to bank in a Genting dividend cheque in to his deceased dad's Maybank islamic account but was rejected. Luckily, his dad still have conventional accounts with other banks.
He told me his dad went to Maybank to open an account but got an islamic account. It was not his choice. Seemingly, the bank seemed to open islamic accounts for all its new customers in its effort to grow its islamic banking. You ask the staff n they just lie and tell you it is the same as conventional accounts.

How to tighten monetary policy in US ? It is QE forever in the US. They print too much USD. Now that China n Russia are not buying USD, it is the Fed that bought the USD printed by the Treasury. Like USD notes passing from the right hand to the left hand.
The Fed only talk about tapering its bond purchases. It means buying less and not stop buying.

In the past, the telcos are the pillars of the stock market. Whenever, KLSE drops, the telcos all inch up to save the day. Then came Jibby's out of the blues' spectrum fees increase to cover the big hole. All the telcos drop like shit. Maxis dropped from almost RM7 to RM4++, below its IPO price. Even Digi becomes a stagnant stock now.
How to save the stock mart ?

"Tiger is also a powerful “Travelling star” which will trigger many people to travel and move around. As such, it will bring back international travelling with tourism and airline business returning to normal after two horrible dead years in 2020 and 2021. This should be the most important aspect 0f 2022-meaning the pandemic is under control and the world starts moving again. "

On offsetting unabsorbed losses, the subsidiary companies of Genting which incurred the losses will offset it with tax liabilities that they have. If it is a foreign subsidiary, then they can offset it with tax of the foreign country, a different set of tax laws but basically the same principles apply.
2021-10-30 17:47 | Report Abuse
Group accounts are all artificial. Since all Genting's subsidiary companies are limited companies, Genting does not have the means to touch their cash unless these companies declare dividends to Genting or pay licensing fees, management fees to Genting. All limited companies are separate legal entities. So the tax is actually on the dividends, fees... Genting receives. That is the reason why the law requires it to show also their results at company levels. It is the same for all other companies.
