Good company, however CEO's pay is too high for this sort of profit (based on 2017 AR). This type of pay, I'd expect company's net profit is 10m at least.

Not referring to OTB specifically. Even IB analysts also do the same. They recommend many stocks but nothing is mentioned if they aren't accurate. But if 1 or 2 stocks accurate, they will be famous and can even be nominated for best analyst award.

This is called machine gun strategy. You can get them for free from some so-called i3 sifu on telegram. Give you few stocks everyday. If one of them moved big, they will take big credit and keep bragging about it. If didn't move, just keep quiet and give new stocks the next day.

Investors out there should all do their homework rather than just follow tips from telegram blindly. Telegrams guru use a MACHINE GUN STRATEGY by making 10, 20 or 30 stocks calls a day. When one of them hit the target and the stock went up big on that day... they will make a big announcement on how accurate they were, and that they managed to catch the big bull before others did. But nothing will be mentioned about all the missed hits. These telegrams guru should be more transparent and also announce their accuracy hits out of total calls made that day.

@Johnny Khong, what you said there is totally valid. Only problem is high PE. With high PE you expect great things, more positive surprises.... not damages. To justify and maintain the high PE, the management needs to further clarify if they get to operate in First World Hotel again once the renovation is completed and how many outlets will be given to them? FYI quite a few Komtar restaurants' earnings have already started coming in, in previous QR and there is not much improvements seen. Visitors who go to Komtar are not stranded there and they can always go home and eat in their hotel, but First World got 6000 rooms and these tourists are stucked there and are forced to eat in one of the restaurants in the hotel everyday.

One of the biggest problem with OWG is, its 50x PE. Many would assume its forward PE will come down to 14x or so once all KOMTAR businesses are fully recognised. Unfortunately now is not the case. Its PE will still remain high double digit levels because 14 profitable outlets will be closed down.

Since TTB started his call for market crash many years ago, there were many new developments in the market which created many opportunities to make few baggers return but he missed it. Rise of internet of things and smartphone, increased minimum wages which spur the retail sector and depreciation of MYR which resulted huge rally in export stocks.

Even stocks that have hit rock bottom he also missed. Like the recovery of commodities and steel sector and airline. Both Annjoo and Airasia dropped 85% and 80% respectively from its peak price and TTB missed it.

What has TTB been doing apart from telling everyone market has crashed? TTB is one very proud guy. In his 2011 interview with Thestar, the interviewer asked him if there's any investor he admire greatly and why? His reply was:

"Can I say, myself? If yes, the reason is this: Other fund managers need only focus on managing their funds. In my case, besides managing funds over RM1bil on a local and global basis, I have a number of companies and a fast growing business to manage at the same time. Yet, I have consistently beaten all the benchmark indices, whether Malaysian or globally based. Hard to find another parallel, really."

"Yes, my returns are higher than Warren Buffett's and also higher than John Paulson's flagship fund. There are great investing opportunities to be found on Bursa Malaysia, as there are some great companies listed there. However, based on sheer numbers, you cannot beat the investing opportunities available from the 40,000 plus listed companies globally."

From 2012 until 2016 (total of 5 years), ICAP is up 25%, whereas Berkshire Hathaway is up 111%.

No doubt one day.... just ONE DAY.... TTB will get it right on his market crash predictions. Investors just have to wait patiently with him, while continue paying him salaries.

Have a KEEN OBSERVATION IN LIFE:

Take DRB for example.

I was having dinner with my Used Car Dealer friends one evening (I already left Used Car Trade more than 15 years already.)

They told me every time they bought a Used Car they must send it to Puspakom to verify it. And when they sell they have to send for Puspakom inspection the 2nd time.

With 21.25 million vehicles in Malaysia according to Motor Trader there will be a lot of business for Puspakom which is a monopoly like MyEG.

Another one is POS which DRB has bought 53.5%. Another Monopoly. That is what Warren Buffet likes.

Since they are monopolies they have pricing power. If they raise prices like MyEG there is no alternative.

Another thing I like is DRB's VERY VERY HIGH VALUABLE ASSETS. All at Rock Bottom Prices still at Old Book Value. And POS lands are all Gold Mines (200 year old prime lands & assets)

Although DRB has high gearing ITS ASSETS MORE THAN COVER ALL.

It's like this

If you owe the Bank Rm10 millions But Asset Backing is Rm1 Billion. The 10 million debt or gearing is actually nothing at all.

At Rm1.23 DRB is selling at more than 62% Discount to NTA of Rm3.16

So it has High Margin of Safety

And other ideas too many to list here.

If use your method to value DRB, then LANDMRK would be super high margin of safety. Price at 72c, NTA 3.68 and it doesn't bleed as bad as DRB.

I won't be able to add more portfolio links to the main page because the market for 2017 has kicked off. Portfolios that come in after 9am 3/1/17 will be difficult to verify if they are set up in accordance to Tan KW's rules as they are not on the same starting line.
