Despite Padini's strong brand here, but surely this year's TP of RM5.50 is a bit on the high side, isn't it so?

Competition is dragging down Padini's sales, and more & more ppl purchase clothes online via Taobao, Lazada, or if brick-and-mortar shops, Uniqlo & CottonOn?

Unless Padini increases its div, it would be a bit difficult to convince the bulls to push share price until RM5.00 this year, with the markets in such bearish state.

although the reasoning is simple, implementation is hard bcause emotion is at play. seeing all that profit reducing so quickly despite having profit 2 weeks ago can be quite disappointing.
besides, the long red candle today usually means the price may fall further in the nxt few days...

given what happened in Dec2018-Jan2018, I think the market has players who are ready to gobble beaten down stocks. they will push the price up in no time. recovery will definitely be faster than 2009 as most people have alrdy learnt frm 2008-2009.

I simply don't see any reason why GENM would fall under RM3.30 or RM3.20 again.
Apart from the impairment loss, FY2018 is a tremendous improvement over FY2017. Is that not a good news? At a price below RM3.60, wouldn't it be a steal, compared to those who bought in March last year?
I hope GENM would continue its upward trend until RM4.00.
Probably some traders will dispose after getting the recent dividends & only return to claim Aug dividend.
I remain optimistic this year.

Previously when founder Yong buys, Padini price will gradually rise over a few mths. It could be a buy signal.

But then again, Padini faces competition against establishments eg. H&M & online clothes sellers, eg. Taobao.

Will Padini bcome Parkson 2.0? Or will it continue to reach new heights, eg revenue & profits?

I have to agree with @soojinhou that there are various methods of winning in the stockmarke. There is no one definite correct way.

It is up to the individual, whether to hold long term, or trade in short term, to pick the best or just pretty good ones.

Although @(S = Qr) Philip is the new God of i3investor whom we hero-worship, it is clear he can be stubborn at times, dismissing some good & practical ideas from other forumers.

Disclaimer, I have nothing against (S = Qr) Philip. He has in-depth stock analysis and time-tested past record with his stock picks and practises what he preaches.

Forums should be lively with though-provoking ideas with forumers constantly challenging each other's views. Hopefully forumers won't stop sharing just because their ideas might not be accepted by some.

oh come on, it's not all doom and gloom is it? ICAP's portfolio has done not too badly overall.

For shareowners holding for a long time & getting no returns, probably a time to let go some and invest elsewhere if you are done with TTB.

For newcomers, probably a low risk defensive stock that never sinks, unlike O&G, plantations, constructions, etc.

But I concur that TTB is running short on time. He should stop timing the market. In the event in 2025 that ICAP has a price range of around RM2.50-RM3.00 to its NTA while other stocks continue rising, it would spell the end of his base of supporters.

ICAP NAV as of 1.3.2019 stays at RM3.26
