Vitrox is one of the hot stocks which is popular these days and on an uptrend. I noticed Vitrox's price had been dropping frm Jan to Mac but its financial performance had been good this few quarters. (good to me at least, since its profit had been increasing and it had not made any loss in a few years) I believe in buying good stocks whose price had dropped a little as I think its price will eventually return later. I bought Vitrox at RM5.65 in April and sold recently at RM7.00, which is roughly a 20% gain.Even if I lose 10% in my next stock, I still have a 10% gain from Vitrox.
One thing for sure, I won't buy stocks like Jaks as I don't want loss-making companies, (Jaks made a loss in 2016) as I think most investors or speculators would prefer placing their bets in a company which churns profits year in year out rather than another company which makes a profit once every few years.
My reasoning is that if I can obtain profit more than bank's FD in shorter time, why not? I have heard of buying and keeping for the long term but I am afraid that if I hold, the price might go down and my profits will reduce if I hold too long.
I would like to hear your comments on this speculating approach of mine.

poor Star. I still remember the days where it hovered around RM2.40. fortunately I had no spare cash to purchase Star that time or I would have lost money now.

Hong Leong bank may overtake Public Bank as the top banking stock in the future. I think HL Bank's superior profit margin means it's more efficient in business compared to its competitors. Will accumulate if it drops below 18.00.

KYY is like fire. A good friend but a bad enemy. People follow KYY too much. When KYY sells, they follow suit thinking that something is wrong with the stock when the real problem is they did not do enough research.

It seems to me that this post of Calvin's is targeted at attacking John Lu as an act of retaliation due to your personal grudge against him. Your title gives the impression that you have information about the syndicates & proof of wrongdoing. (to me at least, that's what I came here for)
However, this post is disappointing because you usually have well-researched write-ups.

I superinvestor like me must have the criteria:
1. Must very very rich. (nope, not really)
2. Must very intelligent. (super investors are vry intelligent, no doubt about it)
3. Must very good donor to charity. (not relevant at all)
4. Must very ego. (over-confidence?)
5. Must able call people who critisize me as "stupid and poor" (they may scold you back, because they're smarter & richer. i3 will remove your offensive comments (if any) anyway...)
Conclusion: Troll of the year of i3 investor. XD

To me, what Jon Choivo and Icon8888 are arguing is essentially the same. Some people get rich merely by investing/speculating in the stockmarket. Some make it big, others may lose a little. Worse, some lose it all. If one knows what he/she is doing, perhaps 'sailang' on Hengyuan (when it was RM3) or bought KESM when it was undervalued, they definitely can become rich. The key to getting rich via stocks is to have sufficient knowledge, timing, high EQ (not easily swayed by emotiosn) & luck when you buy & sell.
No doubt some people can punt & hit the jackpot like Icon's friend has done. As Icon mentioned, it takes perseverance. The utilization of information, eg. i3investor.com allows investors to pick stocks more confidently. stick to one's price target despite the ups & downs. But on the other hand, Jon Choivo has a more conservative view on the majority of punters, where these eager punters are actually gamblers. These gamblers want fast, easy money. They jump on the bandwagon of any hot stock w/o doing any research whatsoever. Most, if not all, get burnt, simply because they can't control their emotions. When they see a 10% profit plummet to a 30% loss in the span of a few days (or months), they panic & sell at a loss.
“An investment operation is one which, upon thorough analysis, promises safety of principal and an adequate return. Operations not meeting these requirements are speculative.”― Benjamin Graham
Icon8888 said as long as punters do the right things, they will get rich. But isn't that considered as doing research? If punters had done proper analysis, they won't be classified as punters. They should be called investors. They'll stand a chance to get rich via the share market. I don't think those who have conducted due diligence are categorized as punters/speculators. Surely these people will have higher chances of selecting winning stocks. But the reality is, most people don't have the patience. They want immediate results. They mindlessly follow the crowd to buy trending stocks. These are the majority of punters/speculators.
I'm inclined to Jon Choivo's view that the majority of punters don't have what it takes to get rich via stocks. If the majority of punters, (eg. 70% of them) lose money in the stock market or are not profiting much from it, it is certainly not wise to 'sailang' their hard-earned money into trading stocks. For punters, stocks are a source of extra income. Think of it as driving Uber/Grab part-time. It cannot replace working full-time for a living, though a few may attain great success. To the normal folk, returns from shares are a bonus. Realistically, dabbling in stocks without a job and hoping for the best isn't going to make any punter or speculator rich. It is akin to buying Toto/Magnum/Damacai everyday, hoping to strike big.

I am not a member of kcchongnz's course. But this is genuinely good advice. This article allows investors & speculators to think again before making any moves in the stock market. Many bits of investment nuggets can be extracted from this seemingly short & simple article, eg. don't chase hot stocks blindly, stick to your pre-determined strategies, buy low & sell high, etc. "If I've seen a little farther than other men, it's by standing on the shoulders of giants" Well, I may not see further than the pros, but I can certainly follow their footpaths to see things not seen by others.

it's so quiet here. I guess future prospects for this stock to rise is really dim, judging by a high PE of 56.45 & ROE of 1.81%. Most of all, net profit shrank drastically since 2016.
