9,500 at 3.59 for SKPetro
12,700 at 2.63 for GTronic

The above adds up to close to 100K.

That's the spirit Hafiz. At least Saturn cant disturb you any more. May the best person win. Nevertheless winning or losing is a small matter. This is only friendly competition and not really putting 100K cash into these counters.

Otb' suggestion is almost similar to mine, except for the timing of purchase. I feel that the 100K should be invested before opening on Monday as this would mean everyone starts at the same time. Otherwise one would just wait and wait for the market to sharply correct (surely will happen one day)and then only go in. Thus if all start at the same time (that is based on yesterday's closing price) they have to select the stocks carefully that even if it corrects, it will bounce back soon.

I still feel that everyone should start on equal footing where standard rules are being set. Anyway i Have said my piece. It:s up to KW Tan to decide since he is the initiator of the competition.

Potenza 10, just imagine, if there are 20 participants and one keeps buying and selling from now till 31st December, KW Tan will be spending a lot of time updating the status.

One more thing KW tan, in fully using up the 100K at the same starting point for all, it will also do away with the unnecessary of updating the information when the participants come in at different times to make new purchases. If my proposal is accepted, I would probably be interested to join the challenge although I feel that my picks may not fare well.

KW Tan, just to elaborate what I mean. Take Hafiz (no offence meant, Hafiz) for example. He is taking part in the challenge with 100K but will not select his picks if there is no sharp in prices from now till 31st Dec. That means he has not taken part at all since there is no comparison of performance between him and the others. For a real competition to take place, standardized rules must be pre-set and equally applies to all. One cannot come when the race has started.

KW Tan, I hope you consider my suggestion on how to run this stock pick challenge on a standardized, level and transparent playing field. As I mentioned the picks should be based on the closing price yesterday and must be submitted before the opening on Monday. Each person shall be allocated 100K to select between 3 to 7 stocks. The full 100k must be utilized. What is the point of saying I want to take part in the challenge but will not pick any stock now until there is a sharp drop (like last Wed, say in early December. Then I will put all my 100K in one good stock and the chances are that it will outperform the rest. Thus to have a real and fair contest, everything must be equal, selections at the same time, same amount of funds utilized, fix a closing date to work out the results etc. The participant can use the 100k to selct a few stocks with different weightages, say 30 K for Hap Seng, 30K for JTiasa, 20K for LBS, 10K for Cuscapi and 10K for Instance. Ay the end of the day take the total gains as a percentage of 100K and determine the winner. I am sure the participants will agree on this proposal.

KW Tan, why don't just apportion the 100K to the stocks selected by the participants. What is the purpose of keeping the balance. It is not fair to use the balance to buy as and one deems fit. It disrupts the objective of the stock challenge.

Hafiz, I think it's only fair that the participants select the stocks based on today's closing.

Let the competition follow Saturn's rules but again to be fair to all parties (Hjey, Hafiz and Saturn) select three stocks (no point pick 1 by 1) on Monday with the closing price as the reference price. I reckon KW Tan would be more than happy to do the rest.

Yes Hafix, although I do fancy Saturn;s earlier comments, i think he has set some fair rules. Just pick a counter (of course after studying) and accept his challenge in the spirit of sportsmanship and participation. Winning or losing at the end of the day is immaterial.

Otb, please do not get upset by just one or two persons (probably newbisstock and FTCB). The rest are supporting you and appreciative of your contribution. Just keep up the good work.

I opine with with kc's request to ipohmember asking for more specifics. Whilst ipohmember's statement is correct no one can tell the direction of the market to know the timing of buy, sell, buy back again etc. If there is such a person, then we do not need the likes of warren buffet, george soros etc. Say if think you want to sell Daiman at 2,80 today, when do you want to go in again - 2.50, 2.20, 2.00 or 1.70.

Just my personal opinion. You can ridicule one another but it's definitely not right to bring into picture those people running in the special Olympics. We should be be proud and admire these people who have the courage and determination to take part in the special Olympics.

Everyone has his own criteria for trading, some use FA, some TA, some hear rumors, some use gut feeling. At the end it's the individual who makes the final decision. KC Chong is only giving his take on the counter and in no way making a recommendation to anyone to buy. IT;s very generous of him to share his knowledge with others. Even If I do not buy into this company, it is a very educational lesson for me.

Good choice and good write-up. As of now both you and otb have already selected 10 stocks. Hopefully it can help enlighten investors to make their final decision. But no blame game please.

why are some people so naive as to believe that it will go into PN17. The company is making money every year, has plenty of cash and reserves. This is a gem in the medium / long term.
