hiddengem, there's nothing wrong being conservative, but like you mentioned before, the market is unpredictable. There are always two sides to a coin. Those who prefer to play safe would sell whilst the risk takers (the aggressive ones) would buy. If everyone thinks alike and stay on the safe side, there will not be any trading then. At the end of the day, it's up to each individual's strategy and decision - there is no right or wrong !

kcchongnz, is it alright that to include you in the stock challenge contest for 13 members ? You will be the 27th participant.
2013-09-14 15:58 | Report Abuse
hiddengem, probably more than 95% of the people involved in stocks would agree with your comments but despite that everyone is aware of the impact the FOMC meeting, the global markets were up last week - indeed puzzling !

kcchong, I reckon you should not waste your valuable time disputing with someone who is far below your league.

Thanks KW, I assume that you are agreeable to include kcchongnz in the i3 members stock challenge !

For those who just joined and wish to improve your knowledge on investments, go read the postings by kcchongnz, ooi teik bee, bsnpng, matrix cool, trustme932, kcloh etc (just to name a few)

I would suggest people use proper English in their postings rather than forming sentences using short forms and without any grammar. This is not sms !

My initial target selling price was originally set at 45 sen but because of the market sentiment then I cleared about 80% at an average of 40.5 sen. The other 20% was as a cost of about 37 sen. With the free warrants,
I am on the losing with the current shareholding but overall I am still on the plus side. Hope you doing well on this counter too !

tony, wow Rasa Sayang, really a long long time. So I can assume you are my senior. Ya, can say I am very interested in maths and analysis of numbers. My mental maths is still quick and strong and I tackle Sudoku everyday.

kcchong, looks like you have to make a trip back as a lot of dinner treats are awaiting your presence !
2013-09-13 20:43 | Report Abuse
kcchong, just to clarify the difference between the reference price and today's closing is 43 sen (3.89 - 346). Thus 30 lots (if 1 lot = 1,000 units) would only yield a profit of 14,700 ! (correct me if I am wrong)
2013-09-13 20:37 | Report Abuse
You are right tony, I am indeed old. I am in the market for about 30 years already !

anbz, I am surprised you come into this thread. Anyway I reckon Digistar is a safer entry than Nova - just my opinion.
2013-09-13 20:30 | Report Abuse
A company with good fundamentals always reflect its value in bad times - like today it's price went up, albeit 2 sen, despite the KLSE index in the red.
2013-09-13 20:27 | Report Abuse
Thanks kc. I will surely consider to include it in my list.
2013-09-13 20:15 | Report Abuse
Kcchong, most probably he under-estimated your capability. For him the write-up may take weeks or months but for you I am sure it may be only half a day or less.
2013-09-13 20:13 | Report Abuse
tony, may I ask just for curiosity - is your 30 lots 3,000 units or 30,000 units. Years back 1 lot = 1,000 units but when KLSE allowed trading to be done in 100 units 1 lot becomes 100 units. In fact many remisiers still have to re-confirm with their clients on this issue.

Thanks Otb, for KFima it will be held on a long term basis but for the other two, I will be contented with 10% (better if more) profits.
2013-09-13 19:52 | Report Abuse
kcchong and otb, honestly although I am very impressed with your stock picks using FA and TA respectively, I have never actually purchased any of the counters until yesterday when I entered
1) 15,000 units of Fibon at 36 sen
2) 5,000 units of KFima at 1.98
3) 10,000 units of LBS-WA at 77 sen
Probably the timing may not be quite right in view of the FOMC meeting next week but who knows !
Of course don't worry, there will be no blame whatsoever even in the worst scenario where all the prices dropped by 90%.

OTBee, just notice that Rich is selling Priva just after one day and pocketed 3K. An aggressive trader !
2013-09-13 19:16 | Report Abuse
KW Tan, please refer my earlier posting below :-
Posted by inwest88 > Sep 7, 2013 04:16 PM
KW Tan, I think you are mistaken. OTB actually has 3 portfolios namely
(1) one which have 10 selections made in late July / early August together with kcchongnz
(2) one which is organized by you for i3 members in which he has so far purchased 2 counters which are LBS WA and Puncak WA where trading is allowed.
(3) and the latest one which he picked 10 counters, similar to (1) above with 100K allocation where weighting is assigned to the different stocks. I reckon there will be no trades as he wants to know the final performance at the end of the year. (Am I right OTB ?)
I would suggest that you set up a similar simulation for kcchongnz as per (3) below where he has apportioned 100K into 11 stocks based on closing prices at 2 September (as this is the date which he picked his last counter Datasonic). This would be a direct comparison with OoiTB. Of course there is another one where both had 10 counters selected in late July / early August but without values invested.
2013-09-13 19:07 | Report Abuse
kcchongnz, Phew !luckily you are only joking. But I am glad that you actually invested into this counter and making profits. Good for you and congratulations !
2013-09-13 19:04 | Report Abuse
OoiTB, the status report is only after 2 weeks and everyone still has a chance to be the ultimate winner. It is indeed an eye opener to see the different strategies used by different people in that :-
1) the leader Rich mainly goes for speculative penny stocks, buying in high volume. Thus a one sen rise can generate massive profits
2) SKC761103 only put in all his money on one counter
3) you utilizes TA to pick your counters but did not invest the full amount
4) thundercat has yet to make any purchases. Probably he is waiting for a sharp correction.
Thus it would be interesting to see what strategy the ultimate winner uses.
2013-09-13 18:57 | Report Abuse
From what I understand (correct me if I am wrong,
1)Datasonic is one of the 11 counters in the stock pick challenge 2H which you and OTBee are the only participants after FCTB withdrew.
2) There was no mention from you to KW Tan that you would be taking in the contest for the i3 members
3) And lastly Datasonic only forms 10% of your portfolio of 11 counters.
Anyway I am not the organiser but just chip in to provide some observations. You need to obtain KW Tan's approval to be included in the
contest. Thanks.
2013-09-13 18:47 | Report Abuse
kcchongnz, the reason why I did not include you is that your name is not inside the list of 26 people appearing in the stock pick challenge.
2013-09-13 17:42 | Report Abuse
heavyth, I suggest that you do not read too much into the report as this is just a friendly challenge. The contestants all have different ways of investing / trading - some go for long term, some medium term and some short term. Some go for fundamentally sound companies, some go for speculative counters. Thus it is advisable to do your own study and analysis rather than just simply be a follower.

Status Report (After 2 weeks of Trading)
Of the 26 contestants, 21 have made gains whilst only 4 are in the red. One participant has yet to perform any transactions. Currently topping the list is Rich which is way ahead of 2nd placed SKC61103 with OoiTB a place behind. At the bottom of the table is Musang Foxking with a heavy loss of more than 7K. As for the direct challenge between Hafiz and Saturn, interestingly both are incurring losses with the former just one position above the latter.
Well, that's the position as of now. Still a long way to go - happy trading !

Directors buying back and selling their stock holdings are quite normal and do not provide any indication of the direction of the prices. Very often you even see that after fund managers dispose their shares, the prices will go up. In a market there is always a willing seller and willing buyer. Do you think the person buying the big block shares from the directors or from the market at the stipulated price is so naive ?

Welcome back Saturn. Looks like you are trailing Hafiz at this point in time but nevertheless let's wait for the final outcome come end of the year. Hope no more war of words with Hafiz ya !

I tend to agree that at about 34 sen it's quite a safe entry level. Should there be any adverse impact from the FOMC meeting, the drop should be minimal considering the fundamentals of the company (see write-up by kcchongnz).
hiddengem - please do not classify me as sifu as I am no tint he league as the others. In fact I am more of a trader all these years and I am learning a lot from this forum especially from kccongnz, otb, matrixcool etc. A big thank you to these wonderful people !

JCool, below is your earlier posting. So you reckon the market is heading for a crash
CRASH COMING FOR KLSE.
Aug 28, 2013 08:34 AM | Report Abuse
Market is always 6 months ahead of everything.... so market is actually rather late already... even if QE tapering is postponed to OCT DEC.... result is a disorderly crash.... vs a controlled soft landing...
2013-09-11 23:04 | Report Abuse
JCool, what I mean is that there are people just predicting target prices with no justification. However kcchongnz and OTB provides analysis with facts and figures to support.
2013-09-11 23:00 | Report Abuse
OTB, is this a sell signal as I thought you will wait for it to shoot past 41.5 sen.
2013-09-11 19:09 | Report Abuse
Directors do this very frequently (buy sell buy sell) and normally do not have much impact. The person who sold last week may be buying back today !
2013-09-11 19:02 | Report Abuse
JCool, if you want action and excitement go for those mentioned by kcchongnx plus others like Sumatec, Sanichi etc. As bsngpg says, kcchongnz's analysis are educational and informative which provides a lot of useful knowledge for a lot of other people. If you do not fancy such articles, then do not waste your time reading it but do not make sarcastic comments. And by the way why are you still keeping MFCB shares if they are not moving !

Qiii, I reckon scjm3 comments are given in good faith and we should say words to doubt his intentions. After all ultimately it's up to the individual to study, digest and make the right decision.I feel your words are rather harsh.
