PETALING JAYA: The clock is ticking for Red Sena Bhd to acquire a qualifying asset.

After more than two years of searching, the special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC) has given itself until end of September to find a food and beverage (F&B) business that it can close a deal on.

It was reportedly looking to acquire confectionery product manufacturer Munchy Group and sources said that Red Sena is eyeing to get a hold of Retirement Fund Inc’s (KWAP) stake, which KWAP may be planning to sell.

Agree with you that SAPNRG is not a junk stock.

It's the impact of low crude oil in the last few years and the company had to make impairment for the assets purchased during the high oil price especially those underutilised. This contributed to the huge losses. The last 2-3 years also saw the USD appreciated over RM3.50/USD, which SAPNRG debts are mostly in denominated USD cause spike in interest payments.

Depends on the type of oil & gas company, some may be impacted.

Earnings is recovering since Paka power plant had restarted.

Anyway, avoid it till the GE result is out. Then decide together with the latest quarter result.

Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd completed the US$25 million acquisition of a stake in the 2011 North Sabah Enhanced Oil Recovery Production Sharing Contract (PSC), bringing the group’s total production to as high as 9,500 barrels a day from the previous 3,500 barrels.

The exploration and production company acquired a 50% stake in the PSC from Royal Dutch Shell Plc-units Sabah Shell Petroleum Company Ltd and Shell Sabah Selatan Sdn Bhd via its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary SEA Hibiscus Sdn Bhd.
