hopetobecorrect You are right, with TA at Rm1.00 there has been no gain. When the announcement was made in early 2009, TA was at about 60 sens. Those were the lucky investors. The price went up to RM1.00 within 2 months after that.

TheContrarian So, how to achieve 75%? Even 50% also not achievable.

Currently Datuk and pac members have 33%. He is allowed to accumulate up to 2% within 6 months without having to revise the offer price. It is possible he may breach current offer price after collecting the 2% and issuing new offer before the 46th day from day of first offer. Once he can convince investors to sell to him with a higher offer and achieves 50%+ , his conditional offer becomes successful. He can go on to purchase from open market after offer close by chasing after the stock even with the price going up. So if he is serious about the buyout, TA share price is likely to continue to rise after close of second offer. Once he achieves 75%, liquidity or minimum free float requirement rule comes in so he will need to make one final offer to round up from 75% to 100%. Interesting then will be the 75% to 90% level as once he reaches 90%+ he can convert offer to unconditional and also apply for delisting. Once delisted, any shares not sold to him, cannot be traded on Bursa.
In my humble opinion (don't take this seriously, I have been wrong many times) Datuk would want the 60% stake TA has in TAGB. If he can round this up at bargain prices, his and family's stake will shoot up all the way to above 75%. It would be very lucrative for him to do that. Both stocks are way below true value, especially TA. Therefore his first target would be TA followed by TAGB. It would be much easier for him to buyout TAGB once he completes buyout of TA.

Those who got the split from TA in 2009 were the ones who gained. Those who bought TAGB after listing have been through a very long disappointing time. The company needed time to grow. Now starting to look better but most investors are fed up. Free float not much with TA and Tiah family together owning 75%+
I believe now is the time to not let go. Dig in and hold tight and receive your reward after going through such a long frustrating time. Datuk should be willing to pay a fair price to all loyal investors who placed their hard earned money into this businesses. When he needed the funds to grow the company, retail investors were there to support him. Now is the time for him to show his appreciation. All the best.

Once he acquires 50%+ will trigger mgo for TAGB. Meanwhile he can continue to buy TA from open market up to 75% level without restrictions from Bursa and don't need to issue another mgo. Once 75% level is achieved will trigger free float minimum requirement, same as TAGB. Looks like this could be the plan. I believe this is gonna be quite a ride for the next year or two.

Looks like Datuk has fallen in love with TA & TAGB and wants to accumulate all. Sorry Datuk, I also love TA & TAGB, I will not sell at all. He! He! He!

Well going by this rule Datuk can buy from the open market at a higher price than the offer price and revise the offer price upwards to the new price the shares were purchased, This can happen at any time during the offer period. Those who have accepted 66 sens will be given the new and higher price, so they don't lose out on the revised offer.

Hopetobecorrect yes I agree it will be beneficial if the valuations can be brought to date so that every shareholder receives their rightful share in the business. Small investor or big investor there should be equal respect and definitely no prejudice.

Yes it will be interesting to see what is the REAL OFFER!! . At current offer price of 66 sen, very few would be interested to sell. Though the possible accumulation in the open market of the 2% limit is still beneficial to Datuk and pac members.

While we can see that Tony wants to buy remainder of outstanding shares in market, in reality it won't take much for him to trigger a mgo with TA Global as his TA purchase will increase his TAGB shareholding indirectly and for which he is also pretty close to hitting 33%.

Fabien I find this offerer wanting to maintain listing status kind of confusing. When offerer has bought all outstanding shares and has 100% shareholding, what is the purpose of this listing status??

I was looking for another counter to compare and learn something as this mgo is something new for me. Interestingly found Petaling tin as a counter currently undergoing a takeover offer by it's substantial shareholder. Initial offer in May 2016 was for 24 sens. After 2 years, new offer just released in May 2018 and it is 40 sens per share. So looks like this whole takeover thing may take sometime to play out. Need a lot of patience.

Be patient, let nature take it's course. Have faith and be rewarded, Like Calvin has pointed out, the company has to follow Bursa rules and the offer price is at the last closing price. Of course we are not selling at this low price. Those who sell are likely not keeping up with the news.
It makes me wonder though what will happen to TAGB ?? if Datuk takes over all TAGB shares held by TA, he and family will have close to 80 % , leaving very little in the open market. I believe TAGB is his real target of takeover or the bigger target in this whole package.

hopetobecorrect I believe when we judge others we should not use a single event to decide on someone's character. If we do that then we are all bad or sinners in one way or the other. In my view or opinion his case happened in the terrible heat of the financial crisis where many lost their entire fortunes and many would have tried to get help to save themselves. One needs to be careful of our 'friends' as amongst them could be wolves in sheepskin. Again in my opinion I believe he was unfortunate in having a 'friend' who happened to be a wolf. Looking at the bigger picture, I have faith in him and his family and of course in TA & TAGB.

This mess will take some time to clear.

I don't think there will be an MGO, I believe companies do that when they have no more growth to achieve and don't need public funds or shareholders money or they are so greedy they don't want to share with shareholders the appreciation of the assets over the many years of operation. In other words they will con minority shareholders and try to keep the big gains for themselves.
In my observation of this management over the last 10 years, I don't think Datuk or his family will do that to minority shareholders. Theirs is a very honest family who care for others. Some may say Datuk had been fined for some offence in the 1990's during Asian financial crisis. After investigating many articles, listening to many sermons by Datuk about his struggles, I believe he was a victim of others who tried to cheat their way out of their financial difficulties during the crisis and the authorities implicated him as well in the process. After looking at all the information I decided to invest in TA & TAGB with 90% of my money invested in this two companies. It is a risk I took but I am not afraid, for I believe in Tony, Alicia and Joo Kim to do the right thing. That is to earn a honest living and to share the profits with shareholders. Have faith and God shall bless us.

China already feeling the effects and that is also affecting the whole region here. Locally also too many issues still to go through by new Gov't. June 28th is also the date for AGM. It makes me wonder why the AGM has been set for that same date. Hmmmmmmmmmmm!!?? Is there a surprise coming up?

Newbie917 You are right. The old style handshakes will not do. The bidding will be open and very competitive. On the other hand there will not be any finger pointing and politicking such as what happened to YTLPOWR after they built Paka and Pasir Gudang power plants. They came under constant media attacks for many years. The reputation got so badly affected that till today not a single power plant for them ever since in Malaysia.

Normally if we do tagb price x 2 , you get TA's price. Few months ago it was tagb price x 2 less about 10 sen !! For example when tagb was at 35 sen TA was at 60 - 61 sen only. There was such a big discount. Tagb is cheap , but TA is at super cheap !! When dividend gets paid we get a 4.1 sen refund some more. Woohoo!!! Looking at the big fall for so many counters after elections we can thank GOD for TA and TAGB. Praise be the lord.

Luke Hearing that for the first time. What will a share swap do ? I usually hear of a share swap when doing a M&A. Not sure what it would be like to see a share swap between mother and daughter. If it is going to be an offer by an Investment Bank to do a M&A with TA that would be wonderful news.

High volume trading to continue on Bursa.

This numbers juggling business can be very confusing especially for those like me who have limited knowledge in accounts evaluation. Sometimes I notice the results may not look very good yet the NTA would be slowly moving up, Ha! very interesting. Another issue is not using current valuations for their properties. There is a huge amount of value hidden from view. I hope and have been hoping for a long time that a hospitality REIT be formed. It is about time investors start to gain some returns from this counter. Maybe the AGM will shed some light.

JamesPond Is there a possibility the higher ringgit during the quarter may have affected the results? Kind of paper loss, not necessarily a trading loss with regards to investments? Also, the Little Bay profits expected were calculated when Aussie dollar was at a high ( was at 1: 3.40 end sept 2017, then went down to about 1;3.16 at end Dec 2017 and at 1:2.96 end of Mar 2018). Basically, the Ringgit gaining a lot must have affected the last 2 quarter earnings. What do you think? I hope it is the ringgit and not "Tony Buffett".
