This is the main catalyst for future growth. Who knows maybe to further expand usage of home or fixed line broadband to achieve wide scale use of technology, the PH gov't may offer some incentives. I see TM and Astro both spiking.

I wonder if this is a project as a contract to build or will the JV be responsible for sales as well. Much safer if they are not responsible for selling. During uncertain times selling may get difficult. Will be great if it is similar to KLCC development where one tower was built by Japanese and the other was built by koreans. They just build and collect their contract amount regardless about how well the sales went. Will be great if someone knows and can provide some details.

With strong order book maybe it is time to separate hotels and office towers from construction division. Launching a reit now will allow tagb to raise cash, pay less tax and acquire more hotels as market is getting softer. The management did this capital raising during 2008 crisis by listing tagb. Now already come full circle and it is a downturn again. Unlocking value now will be great for investors stuck for so long. My first purchase of tagb shares was in 2009 at 42 sens. Now the number is flipped and the price reads closer to 24 sens !!!! Wa lao eh !! Taukeh khoon liao meh??

On the Fed side of things as they hold the strings (interest rate policy) and it's effect on world markets, their every move will decide where the carriage will move to on the roller coaster. Currently there is great fear of rising interest rates and it's effect on debt, especially in emerging markets.
I have been closely following some comments made by the people who know it best. My favorite is Ray Dalio. YouTube has some excellent interviews and learner videos. He and a few other experts are trying to convince the Feds to slow down rate hikes. The feds have mentioned most recently that the rates are now quite close to where they want them to be. Going by that, I strongly believe the markets are now primed for a relief rally heading to the window dressing end of year period and maybe also a new year rally. When the Feds decide on Dec 19th, the report they release will give a clearer picture. Even if they raise rates at this meeting, going forward they are expected to cool things down. I am betting the markets will then take off.
Another great boost could also come with a win-win trade deal between U.S. and China.
Looking at our battered stock market which has been driven down much more than others due to obvious reasons, there is now great opportunity to pick the coming winners. Hoping for the best.

Some counters are at a great bargain. I have moved funds from TA to Astro, Malton, Annjoo and a few others. Main target is stocks that pay good dividends and are fundamentally strong. Short term price fluctuations will be there but it is a great opportunity to diversify. Just trying my luck.

Astro has been stable at current price, next leg up to 1.45 - 1.50 should be coming soon.

cheap is getting cheaper day by day. I believe end of year and new year rally is coming. I bet Trump will strike a deal with China and the overall sentiment of markets will be good for the next 1 - 2 months. Just have to get past the fed meeting on Dec 19th and then it should be good from there on.

Don't worry about retrenchment. Recently General Motors announced big layoff and stock price went up. Why? They will incur one time cost of compensation but will save a lot in the long term in having a smaller workforce. Technology upgrades means more sophisticated and efficient, need fewer workers. Another reason may also be M&A possibilities. Combining two companies will also lead to retrenchment for some of the workers.

That was due to PH celebrating elections win, show live matches free on RTM (gov't tv channels). It gave Astro a kick in the balls. Hurt a lot but it was a one time thing only. I hope Astro and Telekom can form JV. It will be a win win for both stocks. Should be able to lower their rates and ban illegal TV box. Offer package at affordable prices for clients that subscribe to phone, tv and internet bundle. Bundling of services is a great way to increase customer base and revenue. Home security is another item to add.

Institutional investors own close to about 90% of shares. Emotional and panicky retail investors are only in the 10% segment of shareholders. After the mindless panic selling is over, the price will recover quite a lot. Just my 2 sens.
Short term effects on profits are a usual thing for most businesses. Important is the business model. Is the business now and into the future safe? It has a very commanding position in the market, as such it will not be affected by newcomers trying to grab some of the pie. May lose a little to some smaller fish, that's about all. At least for the next few years. Beyond that very hard to say.

If there is a big loss reported, will not be surprised to see Tagb heading down to 23 - 25 sens and TA down towards 55 - 60 sens range.

By the way the disposal of Little Bay was a very timely move by management. Sydney property prices have been weakening quite a bit lately. Tagb and Ta are much safer now by paring down their debt and reducing exposure to properties. No new launches for the foreseeable future. I am very happy with management. Very prudent moves.

The loss could also be due to development costs for their properties under construction in Sydney and DA. Revenue and profit from hotels may not be enough to offset capital expenditure. Not only this quarter, the following quarter may have similar scenario. Let's see. Hope to be wrong also.

Dividends over the 10 year period amounts to about 40 sens. Invest 160 sen and get 40 sens over 10 years amounts to a yield of 2.5% per year.
