The ringgit appreciated somewhat recently against British Pound and Singapore dollar, the two countries out of which YTL Group is largely involved and to some extent Australia and Japan. If you look at the historical charts as posted above you will notice that both the pound and sing dollar have been going up against ringgit. I don't think the recent selloff has much to do with the currency but more to do with YTL passing away though you will notice the price had started to come down for the last few months.
I will only speculate that there were people who knew and started to exit a little early out of fear. When he passed on the price came down even more. Fear I believe and not much else is driving the stock price in the short term. It is understandable to fear the breakup of the businesses especially since there are 7 siblings. But what we need to understand is his passing away is not a sudden surprise event. Prior arrangements would have been made for a smooth transfer. I think some people are afraid it will become another Genting case. Looking at things in the coming days and weeks when the smoke has cleared I strongly believe the price will be above RM$1.30

About A$70M. Buyer is suppose to make payment in Jan 2018. Will show in 1st qtr 2018 results to be reported in May. Should be good qtr. It is also the month when dividend is normally announced. Hoping for a much better amount this time around.

This counter is solid but the uncertainty is elsewhere. Even Tony seems to have slowed down in picking up TAGB. If TAGB doesn't move TA doesn't move, even though TA should be above 70 sen. That is the relationship between mother and daughter. Daughter walking ahead, mother follow.

Itg100y It is true this counter if you look at the history has done some yo-yo performance, but last 4 qtrs is showing solid results with current p/e of less than 3 !! . Also the one off gain from little bay disposal will only show in 2018 so the current good performance is fantastic actually. The hotel division has been fully refurbished and expanded with new hotel so it looks like better results in the coming qtrs. Don't forget at little bay they are constructing 173 Apartments with completion in 2019, two almost sold out apartment blocks in DA and the upcoming launch of TA3 & TA4 beside klcc and
houses in dutamas. Future looks promising. Just hope the world economy does not crash or even locally with GE coming up.

Jin You are right. The other thing that people really like is a good dividend. But at the same time if investors get used to receiving, they are equally capable of punishing the stock if the dividend amount is lower than expected. Just look at the YTL group. 9+ sen / share three years in a row, then suddenly went down to 5 sen. Investors not happy. Worse still YTL boss pass away also. Stock now trading at historical low price.

Prudentinvestor You are absolutely right. Just don't understand why, as every TA share owns about 1.8 TAGB shares. Just the value of TAGB in TA is 0.36 * 1.8 = 64.8 sen !! It is technically selling at negative valuation. Really ridiculous. I have no words to describe this unbelievable situation.

Tomorrow should rocket up? Revenue doubled compared to corresponding qtr 2016, profit more than doubled. Now the question is will the share price double also ?

Outsider TA would be entitled to 60.17% of the profit from disposal. The buyer is suppose to make payment in Jan 2018 which means it will show in 1st qtr 2018 results, announcement in May 2018.

It is still a profitable co. as YTLPOWR is big in U.K. , Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. YES may not be profitable for now maybe it is not a good business to be in with all the competition but I think the bigger challenge facing the group is inheritance issues. Just my opinion. When you have to divide the cake amongst many it is not a cake anymore. Just a piece of snack.

Recently Gomen announce freeze on luxury properties, shopping malls etc effective Nov 01. Property counters not doing well since. TA & TAGB should be o.k. as management has clarified during EGM that development of TA3 & TA4 are not affected since the approval for the project has already been received. Just hope the quarterly report is o.k.

For now lets see what the quarterly report says.

Agree with you guys. Developers with approved projects can take advantage of the freeze. TAGB can remain busy for next few years. Meanwhile excess units in market can clear up. Look forward to the launch which should be coming soon. The location is fantastic.

takashi86 You are absolutely correct. To try and buy at lowest and sell at highest is definitely not good for any investor. It is not an investment strategy but more of an attempt to trade smarter than anyone else. Won't work for sure. Will live a life of regrets. Buy low or at a reasonable price and hold for long term if you have faith in the business and management. Don't fret if price falls lower, show some courage and faith.

Feeling kind of eeery!! TT always buy TAGB all the way to the quarterly announcement and also after announcement. But this time around he has stopped buying for 2 weeks now. Why ?

Most of this giant companies can wait many years for MRT, LRT and other RT. small investors want quick results cannot afford to wait. That is the story in a nutshell. My guess is another 1-2 years before they launch something meaningful in sentul. Only then can see some movement. Just simply my opinion. If can wait 5 - 10 years It is a very good stock to sit on.

Seems like the dividend is trapping lots of flies.

Something doesn't add up. Why is this counter so famous and strong with good cash reserves, paying good dividend keep going lower in share price ?? People are losing more than they can get from dividend. Maybe the management should have some news conference and explain to shareholders so there can be some understanding of issues. Lack of information means investors with no information are walking in the dark. That's not fair.
