Saying that (2) will wipe out net profit margin of (3) doesn't make sense to me. (3) is an estimation of MFCB's net profit. So, (3) has already net off whatever cost to produce the electricity for MFCB. Or am I missing something. Please enlighten. TQ.
.......................................
The above is extract from Icon's article:
https://klse.i3investor.com/blogs/icon8888/201116.jsp
Summary of some essential information derived from discussions above:
(1) Selling Price of electricity:
= 0.080 USD/KwH (1)
Electricity generated per ton of coal (max) = 2,460 kWh/ton
1 ton coal : 115 USD (cost) : 2460 kWh (electricity) : 196 USD (final consumer price)
(2) Means the cost from coal per kWh sold:
= 115 USD/ 2460 KWh
= 0.047 USD/ kWh (2)
(3) From above MFCB information provided by Icon8888, we can see that the Net Profit per KWh generated (without the cost of Coal) is:
Net Profit in USD per annum:
= 236 Million RM / (4.1 USD/RM)
= 57 Million USD
Power supplied per annum by Jaks using same basis:
= 360 MW (30% stakes) x 24 hrs x 365 days x 0.77 (utilization)
= 2,428,272,000 kWh
This means the Net Profit margin per kWh is:
= 57 Million USD / 2.4 Billion KWh
= 0.023 USD / kWh (3)
................................
we can see from above that the cost of the coal (2) easily wipes out the net profit margin of Jaks (3).....as JAKS incurs this unlike the hydropower plant of MFCB

Yes bro DK66 I also took profit >100% for wb after reading your article and switched some to mother.

Ppl dumping after DK66's article. Haha.

The CFO would be making 20k, 25k, per month vs selling 650k shares at 80 sen to get RM500k. So, why not? After all the shares were offered "free" to him.

When share price goes up, "funny" characters will never fail to surface from don't know where. Haha.
2019-04-01 11:52 | Report Abuse
I'm sure if all info are public then JAKS share price will be not where it is now. That's why it is called investment and not get-rich-quick scheme. There will always be a degree of unknown with investment.

Actually what I meant was at 40 sen it was like trash to those who dump it but treasure to those who knows the true value.
2019-03-31 08:24 | Report Abuse
@DK66, this is akin to someone's trash is another's treasurer. ;-)

Up 4 sen on low volume shows retail buying after few days of decline.
2019-03-28 18:54 | Report Abuse
For past 10 trading days (after hitting high of 83 sen), volume has been much lower than the avg 122m shares traded daily over past 4 weeks. IMHO, price going down over small volume means retailers selling to take profit. I would be concerned if price goes down with heavy volume and that would mean instituitional investors selling.

I always avoid stocks which KYY is in. It is always not a good ride with him.

Price is trending up above SMA20 and SMA50. It's a bit on overbought. So not surprising to see price moving sideways.

@newbie8080, I believe not yet. Probably upon completion of the power plant. Bro DK66 can confirm?
2019-03-13 14:24 | Report Abuse
@Ricky, just to refresh our minds, below taken from bro DK66's article titled "Understanding Jaks Hai Duong thermal power plant in Vietnam".
---------
The Star 29 March 2016
HANOI, Vietnam: JAKS Resources Bhd is eyeing an internal rate of return of 12% for its Vietnam US$1.87bil (RM7.52bil) coal-fired thermal power plant project independent power plant (IPP) project. The company’s chief executive officer Andy Ang said after a ground breaking ceremony of the IPP here on Sunday that he was happy with the returns of the effort that had been put in over the years to bring this project to fruition. “The break-even should be slightly longer than 8 years. Bear in mind the concession period is 25 years,” he told reporters here in the outskirts of Hanoi at Hai Duong Province where the plant will be located. He also said that the project which will be led by the China Power Engineering Consulting Group Co Ltd (CPECC) may be complete earlier than scheduled in 2020. The company will enjoy recurring income from this IPP for 25 years from the date the plant commences commercial operation in 2020.

Simple calculation; US$1.8656b / 8 years = US$233m
Operating income less depreciation = US$233 – 75m = US$158m
Jaks 40% share at USD/MYR of 4.15 = RM262m = EPS of RM0.48

Just thinking out loud ya. If China GLC is so capable then any reasons to share the pie with small fry JAKS?

DK66, generally many in stock markets are short term focused. Most have herd mentality. That's why so few make tons of money.

Yep and these announcements of incorporating 10 leasing companies are probably to achieve the same thing as AA...

At RM2.7b net cash or 81 sen per share, AA is No. 2 cash king in Bursa. If you exclude the cash, AA is trading at a ridiculously low PE. With all the monetisation of assets, I would not surprised if our shares be "free" in 5-10 years. IMHO, if you like trading, you should keep the shares and trade the CWs instead. Of course, with CW you must have the knowledge and also understand the risks otherwise it is a no-no. No point selling a stock like AA when it is starting to be generous with special and normal dividends.
I also like how they're developing all their side businesses which are serving AA entire eco-system and then monetise it when the business becomes mature. Even after sale they may still maintain some kind of strategic ownership, like with 10% ownership of FLY.
On a side note, those who have not receive the dividend, please check if your account is a nominee one. If yes, then it will take some time to reflect in your cash account.

Gamuda can decline and hold out for a higher offer. The minimum is therefore RM2.55b.

Those who say limit up this and that, it's better to err on the side of caution. All I know is there is no sure thing until it is announced. I'm not siding with anyone so don't bash me ya. :-)
