KUALA LUMPUR (May 27): Glove maker Careplus Group Bhd recorded a net loss of RM37.7 million for the first quarter ended March 31, 2022 (1QFY22), plunging from a net profit of RM123.5 million a year prior due to a decline in average selling price (ASP), lower sales order from key customers, higher raw material prices and hike in utilities costs.

According to the group’s bourse filing on Friday (May 27), revenue fell by 65.9% to RM82.3 million from RM241.3 million while earnings per share came in at 6.64 sen compared with 22.98 sen previously. It did not declare any dividends.

"This (the decline in ASP, lower sales orders, higher raw material prices and hike in utilities costs) is further compounded by labour shortages and low utilisation rate of existing production capacities that contributed to production inefficiency losses," said Careplus in the financial results statement released on Friday.

Malayan Flour Mills Bhd saw its net profit for 1QFY22 reduced by 51% to RM20.32 million from RM41.42 million in the corresponding period, hit by lower profits from flour and grain trading segment. This was despite the group recording 18.5% higher revenue in 1QFY22, compared with RM634.88 million in 1QFY21.

Ahmad Zaki Resources Bhd’s (AZRB) net loss for 3QFY22 was reeled back to RM16.33 million from RM26.77 million a year ago, as its plantation division incurred lower pre-tax loss. Quarterly revenue slumped 16.61% to RM181.27 million from RM217.37 million, as the revenue contribution from its engineering and construction division retreated, which more than offset stronger contribution from its oil and gas division.

Bintai Kinden Corp Bhd posted a net profit of RM1.17 million for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2022 (4QFY22), compared to a net loss of RM6.04 million a year earlier, on the back of RM37.94 million in revenue, which was 119.85% higher than the corresponding quarter’s top line.

Cypark Resources Bhd chairman Tan Sri Razali Ismail has ceased to be a substantial shareholder of the company, following the disposal of 7.26 million shares or a 1.22% equity stake in the renewable energy company since May 24. Razali disposed of the shares in three tranches comprising blocks of 4.78 million, 1.98 million and 500,000 shares for a total consideration of RM3.32 million. About two weeks ago on May 13, he had also disposed of another block of 500,000 shares for RM367,500.

KUALA LUMPUR: Property developer Yong Tai Bhd's (YTB) losses widened in the third quarter (Q3) financial year ended 31 March 2022 (FY22) as the company posted an impairment loss of RM117.9 million during the quarter, resulting in a net loss of RM121.5 million.

Year-to-date, the impairment losses have accumulated to RM198.5 million, reflecting the adverse impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on both its tourism and property development businesses.

Vizione Holdings positive on outlook, backed by RM3bil orderbook
KUALA LUMPUR: Full-fledged integrated construction engineering company Vizione Holdings Bhd is upbeat on its outlook, backed by its healthy order book and the economic recovery.

Managing director Datuk Ng Aun Hooi said the economic recovery is gaining momentum as the nation progresses towards endemicity, which is good news for the company and the construction sector.

In tandem, Ng said the company also sees signs that more jobs are being awarded.
"The company has recently, in April 2022, secured a sizeable RM654.0 million contract for Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial (Perkeso) National Robotics and Cybernetics Rehabilitation Center in Perak.

KUALA LUMPUR (May 23): KPower Bhd’s net profit for the third quarter ended March 31, 2022 (3QFY22) dropped by 52.8% year-on-year to RM6.68 million, from RM14.15 million amid lower revenue.

Earnings per share declined to 1.35 sen from 3.13 sen in the previous year, according to the group’s filing with the local bourse.

Quarterly revenue in 1QFY22 tumbled 63.47% to RM50.29 million, compared with RM137.66 million in 1QFY21, mainly due to lower contribution from its healthcare and construction related activities.
