Yes agreed. Consumer will be the sure winner. Oil price could remain low for long time this round. So as matter of fact, if they can survive with below $50/barrel, how much money been made by them in past during oil price was hover at $100 and above?...

Technology lower the cost no doubt. But R&D cost needed to be paid back too. Middle East cost oil is relatively low compared to unconventional. In the long run, consumer will benefit only if the alternative energy is commercialised. Should start with solar energy and reduce fossil energy, go green.

At this moment, who is the survivor? Haha, still Saudi. But no matter how, oil sector no more shine in long term. This is not black gold anymore. Technology will make the cost more cheaper again. Then, see who is the last survivor at that time.
