KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 13): CGS-CIMB Securities Sdn Bhd has upgraded its target price (TP) for Genting Bhd to RM7.35 from RM6.90 as the research firm cut its earnings forecast for the casino and hotel operator to reflect the Covid-19 pandemic-driven movement restriction's impact on Genting Bhd's Malaysian operations.

In a note today, CGS-CIMB analysts Foong Choong Chen and Sherman Lam Hsien Jin wrote in a note that CGS-CIMB maintained its "add" call for Genting Bhd shares after rolling forward the valuation base year to financial year ending Dec 31, 2022 (FY22) and after taking into account Genting Malaysia Bhd's (GenM) higher fair value.

"We cut our FY21F/22F core EPS (earnings per share) for Genting Bhd by 82%/6%, to reflect GenM's earnings cut," Foong and Chen said.

Seems that unless both Genting MY is fully open PLUS interstate travels being allowed again…. very difficult for Genting to crawl back to pre-covid low prices at 6.0….

Stocksafeplayer. I think most glovers made a ton of money on gloves. For instance, my good friend had some Top Glove that he had bought really cheap after the Aspion scandal was announced. Equivalent (pre split) to around RM1.50 per share. He took my advice and sold half at RM9 (i told him to sell all though), and the remainder at RM6. ... but if he had held his shares until now, even at the current price, he would have more than doubled his initial investment. And that's not including dividends.
... As for those guys who bought in at RM9, well, my condolences.

But similiar case for Genting. Those who bought Genting above RM12 and holding til now, are facing massive losses. ... those who bought Genting below RM3 a while back are happy though.

Long term fundamentally, Gloves and Genting are both solid industries, with good long term prospects. ... it's more a matter of "buy low, sell high".
