WSJ noted that the loss of MH17 in Ukraine threatened to entangle Malaysia in a clash with Russia.

"Malaysia finds itself in a situation that has rapidly become one of geopolitical significance. So you have to be very measured and judicious in what you say and how you respond," the newspaper quoted an unnamed person close to Putrajaya as saying.

This time is not MAS fault. So do not expect drastic fall in its price.

the politicians always say be united facing the mh17 crisis, if they close down mas, it is really like slapping their own face... either privatisation or merger or takeover is on the way, just hold your breath... even proton, the bn federal govt is considering granting subsidies, etc right? :)

Posted by Yong Chun Wah > 2014-07-21 10:37 | Report Abuse

PETRONAS bought misc shares to become the largest shareholder of misc last time... for mas, PETRONAS may also intervene, who knows? if they close down mas now while facing the attack from foreign missile attack, it is really very embarrassing, global headlines again haha

This time is not MAS's fault. It is Putin's fault. So there is no reason for it to close down.

andy, but it's no doubt MAS get bad financial impact over it.. kind of difficult unless privatization happens, which I think a lot pp out there is hoping this to happen

andychucky , you are one stupid fellow. How do you know its PUTIN's fault? Because you read CNN? Times? what else?
Learn to read between the lines. Ukraine is at war. The ones with the most to lose is United States.
Ukraine used to be under the puppet master which is the US.

What better way to frame Russia with this current incident.

Thats why sometimes i find you bloody loud mouthed zombies who read a few articles online etc etc come out like kings of analysis. Grow some brains first before you comment and slam someone. Real typical malaysian attitude.

As for MAS, buy when it hit 0.13 . Emotional selling will peak and then we will see the drawback and GLCs being bailed out.

If PROTON, a private company now owned by an individual can also request the government for RM 1.7b to reimburse them for spending R&D, don't you think the government should just pump in the RM 1.7b to MAS which all the rakyat can benefit ?

This RM 1.7b can at least buy 5 units of the latest A340 or 350 for MAS to cari makan

Putin may be right,it happened in Ukraine 's territory and therefore the gov and people of Ukraine should be responsible. The us had enployed their advanced spy surveilance system on the militia 's movement for sometime already, why had US failed to inform us?

Malaysian Airline System Bhd, the state-backed carrier whose jet was shot down over Ukraine on July 17, will present turnaround plans this week to the government fund that controls it, people familiar with the matter said.

The proposals presented to majority owner Khazanah Nasional Bhd will include taking the company private or allowing it to go bankrupt and then renegotiating contracts with the workers’ unions, said one of the people, who asked not to be named as the information is private. Khazanah, Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund, owns 69.4 per cent of the carrier.

I have posted here quite sometimes ago that one of the option was to let mas go bankruptcy and then restructure it. Sometimes we have to move backward in order to go further, like slingshot.

U know v well that u have a lot of infightings and shits are everywhere in Ukraine and therefore u should declare a no flight zone or advise all to stay away fr the war zone area.It is still the respinsibility of the sovereign country ,Ukraine ,as they have the full right and authority over theirown airspace. It is as simple as that !

Anyway, no one from both sides can be trusted...
Ukrainian military shot down a Russian passenger jet containing 78 people on 4 October 2001 & denied it, until solid proof found.
