Obama calls all the leaders to discuss on MH17. He also called Putin and Najib. A great leader...

But why Najib ask wife to get Putin to call??

govt should have closed down MAS after MH370. if they did, this MH17 tradegy wouldn't have happened.

LKS asked for Parliment sitting to debate on MH370 but they did not want to brief opposition then. Let's work together if truly we are under attack....

be greedy when others are fearful, be fearful when others are greedy.

what the situation now calls is for Khazanah to expedite the so called plan to save MAS. the company needs it now more than ever.

worst case scenario is for them to let it bankrupt..and that will only happen if union leaders continue to be stubborn.

there are just too many parties welfare at stake. Khazanah needs to act sooner rather than later. i believe they could announce something (for shareholder's consumption) before Hari Raya or latest before August.

For those who haven't read this.....MH17 first flew 17 years ago on 17th July 1997 and ended on 17th July 2014. Ref to wiki link. Can this be coincidence ?

MAS cannot be saved already! MAS name dah busuk. If Khazanah privatise MAS, they will be holding added more to their loses. Khazanah knows they cannot relist MAS in the future anymore at high valuations (like Bumi Armada, Astro, Maxis, IOI Properties)cos the MAS name dah busuk.

Khazanah knows this, which is why the are reluctant to privatise MAS (even at current prices). It will be impossible to find investors local or foreign to pay premium valuations for MAS anymore.

MAS is more or less finished. The best thing to do for MAS is close MAS. Let AA & AAX represent Malaysia.

Mas 17 happened on 17th day of the month.

In Italy number 17 is considered a very unlucky number by many.

In Roman numerals number 17 is written XVII.

Making an anagram with this number it turns out as VIXI which in Latin means “I have lived”, the past tense implies that one is therefore dead.

“VIXI” has been found engraved on some tombstones dating back to Ancient Rome.

“Heptadecaphobia” means fear of number 17. Some use the word “heptakaidekaphobia”, it has the same meaning; someone who fears number 17.

wow just heard international expert on aviation give talk about MAS future in CNN. They said MAS will survive. Wow. Now im shock. An outsider have the fate on our National Airline. Even our own people dont have to their own National Airline. Our people willingly see MAS go bankrupt but the outsider or international expert said they are sure MAS will be more stronger after all the struggle.

MAS chose the cheapest Imarsat package in the case of MH370. It does not include Geolocation..so it is not surprising that the path chosen recently was also to save money. I hope MAS change the plan and package .....

SIA takes the same route as MAS lah. But why on MAS, a national carrier for Bolehland? Why?

Posted by joeylee2013 > 2014-07-20 00:14 | Report Abuse

These are what I think : 1. Plane was shot down by rebels. 2. Ukrainian Air Traffic Control ordered MH17 to descend 2000 ft. This may caused the rebels, which are not professionals to think that a hostile plane was coming and were "tricked" to shoot. 3. Ukraine and USA benefited a lot from this incident

after MH 370 disaster , MAS didn't learned any lesson . Now MAS wants to find the scapegoat to run away from any blame .MAS must be responsible at least partially for taking the extremely high risk route , considering after 3 planes / helicopter have been shot down in that area just days before MH 17 disaster . Now MAS is beyond repair liao , even 10 sen fire sale ticket from KL to Bangkok , nobody want it....!!

MAS at one time had a human-like aura with bright & dynamic personalities at the helm. It's shine wore off the moment it was manhandled by politicians of the day from years ago & since then, it has been whored, plundered and mismanaged by all & sundry associated with it, till present. It may be on this premise that it desires to kill itself than be buggered further by myopics who refuse to learn that it was meritocracy which vastly contributed to it's once glorious days.

Posted by middlefinger > 2014-07-20 00:25 | Report Abuse

"There were no reports from our pilots", so said the MAS director. It's typical of Malaysians, including pilots, not to voice their objections too strongly for fear of repercussions. And to make matters worst, they can't write a proper report due to our inefficient education. And this is the result, an unfortunate, grief-stricken tragedy.

If you are going to blame MAS for taking that route, you should also blame SIA and Lufthansa and other European Airlines who took similar route numerous times for the past week. The girl was raped for wearing sexy cloth - so, do you blame the girl or the rapist? MH17 was shot down while taking a route that has been declared safe by international aviation body - so, do you blame MAS or the shooter? You guys lack of empathy is really sickening!

Posted by KCChan2708 > 2014-07-20 00:30 | Report Abuse

What are the risk assessment procedures used by MAS to determine whether a route is safe or dangerous? When British Airways and Air France avoided Ukraine air-space because of a conflict going on, what was the different criteria used by MAS?

Where is MAS CEO Ahmad Jauhari? Why is he not taking the questions from the public or media? Why is he assigning Dir of Ops for this crucial role? Or is Ahmad Jauhari out of MAS already? If so, why not fire the whole incompetent Board of Directors as well? Why should Ahmad Jauhari be scapegoat?

In the wee hours July 18, Malaysia woke up to the shocking news that Malaysia Airlines' MH17 flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur had been shot down by ground to air missiles in a conflict-torn Eastern Ukraine territory, close to the Russian border.

As the news sunk in, questions like "why is MAS so unlucky?", "is it a curse?", "I should never fly with MAS again", "Malaysia is doomed" inevitably filtered in.

Posted by betulbetullcakap > 2014-07-20 00:36 | Report Abuse

Many of us were busy looking for signs behind these unfortunate tragedies- MH370 including- maybe someone above us is trying to tell us something, to covey a message?

Posted by betulbetullcakap > 2014-07-20 00:37 | Report Abuse

Given how religiously righteous many Malaysians think of themselves despite their cultural and religious interpretation, theories have been abundant as to why God chose to "punish" those on the flight or Malaysians on the flight.

Posted by betulbetullcakap > 2014-07-20 00:38 | Report Abuse

But the ironic fact remains that, if God indeed chose to punish, the people feeling the pain at this moment are family members, frequent flyers, and every one of us having enough sense to realize that regardless of race, religion or creed, the same fate can befell any of us.

If we do, we are once again depending on escapism in an effort to justify a terrible tragedy, that quite honestly, had been beyond our comprehension or prediction.
