TAIPEI, Oct 18 (Reuters) - Taiwanese tech giant Foxconn (2317.TW), best known for assembling Apple's (AAPL.O) iPhone, said on Tuesday it hopes to one day make cars for Tesla as it ramps up electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing in a strategy to diversify its business.

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 26): The Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association (MSIA) projected the semiconductor industry to grow by 8% to 10% in 2022, followed by a weaker 2023, due to weaknesses in the personal computer and smartphone manufacturing industries, Hong Leong Investment Bank Bhd (HLIB) said.
The investment bank said in the past 12 months, a total of RM52 billion in semiconductor investment was announced, targeting to create 11,000 jobs.

Full year 2022 earnings: EPS and revenues exceed analyst expectations
Full year 2022 results: • EPS: RM0.18 (up from RM0.042 in FY 2021). • Revenue: RM1.44b (up RM1.22b from FY 2021). • Net income: RM549.6m (up RM469.6m from FY 2021). • Profit margin: 38% (up from 36% in FY 2021).
Revenue exceeded analyst estimates by 8.7%. Earnings per share (EPS) also surpassed analyst estimates by 197%.
Revenue is forecast to grow 11% p.a. on average during the next 3 years, compared to a 7.8% growth forecast for the IT industry in Malaysia.
Over the last 3 years on average, earnings per share has increased by 124% per year but the company’s share price has only increased by 40% per year, which means it is significantly lagging earnings growth.
