TM (Trading Buy, TP: RM4.65), TNB (Outperform, TP: RM17.81): Terminate MoU on nationwide fiberisation plan. Telekom Malaysia (TM) and Tenaga Nasional (TNB) have terminated the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two groups to jointly develop an implementation plan to deliver on the government's Nationwide Fiberisation Plan (NFP). (The Edge) Comments : The decision to discontinue the MoU was mutual and with immediate effect, without however stating the reason for the termination. Earlier, the two GLCs said the collaboration will capitalise on the respective strength of both parties, enabling the most efficient cost structure and accelerating the fibre broadband network reach in line with the previous government’s move to drive Malaysia’s digital economy. Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo had said that the new government may replace the previous government’s NFP with the National Connectivity Plan, to allow wider and more extensive internet accessibility. No impact to our earnings forecasts as we have not factored this into our estimates. Maintain Trading Buy on TM and Outperform on TNB.
