Kenneth89: look into ex-date. Just ignore the entitlement date. U will get the dividend as long as you are still holding the stock on the ex-date. U will not get the dividend if u sold your stock before th ex-date or buy after ex-date but before entitlement date.
Kenneth: u will get the dividend when u buy before ex date and sell after ex date and before entitlement date. However, u will only receive the dividend in your bank account on the payment date.
It's depend on situation. Not necessary that many people will buy on the last day. Foe your information, the dividend amount will directly deduct from the stock price on the ex date. For example, the company announce RM0.02 dividend per share. The ex date is on May 1 and the closing price for the stock price on 30 April is RM 1.00. On the next day which is also May 1, the stock price will automatically open at 0.98 which already deduct the dividend payment
Kenneth: not necessary. U can see many stocks did not increase in its share price after they announce their dividend.
It's actually reflecting whether the dividend is expecting from the shareholders or not based in the current price. It's same as the theory of market demand and supply. If the announced dividend turn out to be higher than the expected dividend. The stock price may increase due to the market perception of the company business is doing well.
Kenneth: it's always in my wish list but never go to it due to its high PE and my limited capital fund as I just an fresh graduate. Lol
However, if u have the holding power and wish to hold the stock in long term. Then u can go into it as the fundamental is strong :) Just don't play contra and margin. I believe that if u hold long term then it should not be trouble.
U can view my portfolio too as I put it in public under the Brent Soo portfolio which listed the stock I holding. So far 29.2% in 10 months dy :) u can also see the stocks I already dispose of. MAS is my biggest mistake by including in the portfolio previously but I already cut loss on it :)

shall see how for this wk but i did notice a lot of tech shares drop quite kao n the VIS which i use to monitor n quite stable today drop more than 40% dunno wats wrong@@
just done cut some minor lose n reduce some portion from other share holding scare of the tech bubble coming then no bullet so now better keep some bullet..
whats your mean for LA? haha....yes, u r right,....now the share look like stabilize and now wait for add petro for boost up only in slowly...one day it will show its actual valued...
Erm wat I can say is tat I hv the sense of risk mgmt rather than just blindly support which will harm my fund n also the liquidity..bear in mind share won't all the way up as per our expectation n some take quite some time to reflect true color on the price..Yee lee last time I notice float ard 0.8-0.9 for almost 2yrs +..kawan float ard 0.9-1 ard 3yrs..n hupseng just show true color n share split u really think it will show again so soon?within a year?hup seng act quite similar to ytl b4 share split..ytl last time b4 share split pick up to 7+ like hupseng n after split hang ard 1.3-1.4 almost 1.5yrs..is it worth for yr fund to hang ard the same price n make u miss out other share opportunity?i mean this is my own opinion la no doubt a good share can hold still but can't gain as max as possible within short period(6mnths - 1yrs)..anyway just my point of view la not saying hupseng is not a good company cos still I am eating hup seng biscuit too:)
To be honest last time i use to use the strategy wait the report out at Padini but almost 2rnd report show perfect it doesn't perform as well n keep float ard rm0.8-0.9 for almost 1.5yrs n also TA Enterprise (even worst price go down wf good profit) so i totally adj n change my strategy etc..
