Mamamia, you are right.

In fact I am very happy to see AAX's ticket price improved. At first I also thought AAX close shop already, but luckily its just accounting.

I expect Airasia's ticket price will improve at least 5%.

https://newsroom.airasia.com/news/2019/8/22/airasia-x-delivers-rm101-b...

"The Company reported a net cash generated from operating activities of RM268.8 million, a significant increase year-on-year (“YoY) from the previous year’s RM23.5 million. More importantly, AirAsia X Malaysia posted Revenue per Available Seat Kilometre (“RASK”) of 12.03 sen, up by 2% on the back of an increase in average base fare (“ABF”) by 5% in 2Q19 to RM437 from last year’s RM418. On capacity, Available Seat per Kilometre (“ASK”) Capacity declined 6% YoY to 8,442 million and Passenger Load Factor (“PLF”) remained fairly stable at 80% during the quarter. "

Loss is due to depreciation, operation statistics and financials are growing tremendously

Generate cash but after minus here and there still loss +200 mil. Is like if rent your car out, you earn daily 200 cash but your car depreciate 400 daily as well. Am i right?

When your current house value is lower than value you bought is called underwater and the cash you generate from rent not enough to cover the depreciation..

Concerning AAX loss, I have queries but i usually cannot find time to attend the AGM and some more the venue is around KLIa area, so far away : 1) Why is it that after disposal of aircraft, AirAsia made so much money; but AAX suffered great loss ? 2) Is there some accounting gimmick where AAX is made to bear the bad disposals & AirAsia bear the good ones ? 3) With AirAsia making profit every year & gave good dividends; and AAX losing big money most years, no dividends since listing, Is AAX made the whipping boy every year by the parents ( like the step father who dislike the step son AAX born by the previous father) ? 4) Meaning, all bad loss in the AirAsia Group is transferred to AAX and made AirAsia looks good & gave handsome dividend but AAX to bleed to death ?

If possible later KLCCREIT....want to chase Mabel portfolio....then date her for lobster and wine together...no buying new car...buy new shares only la.

@InvestWin, AirAsia Group is NOT the parent of AAX & AAX is NOT a subsidiary of AirAsia Group; they are two entirely different companies & their assets are separately owned/disposed. AAX's big loss was NOT because of AirAsia Group making profits at its expense. AirAsia Group's profit/loss has nothing to do with AAX's big loss.

@risktransformer, From all publication, AirAsia & AAX share resources and same HQ address and management team is headed by similar personalities. Especially the leadership, they know how to make AirAsia profitable; but AAX is losing money most years, all these raise my doubts.

Posted by risktransformer > 2019-08-23 11:48 | Report Abuse

Those who keep thinking that AAX is part of AirAsia Group (or they are related companies), it is just like thinking that Heineken is part of Carlsberg (or they belong to the same company) because they are both beers and sold in green cans or green bottles.

Mamamia, to make my point clear, I think average fare (average ticket price) is a very important number, besides fuel price, load factor etc.

Airasia's average fare has been on a down trend, I think going down from 222-218 sort of range (correct me if I wrong).

So now AAX reports 5% increase in average fare, highly likely average fare will increase by 5% or even more for Airasia too.

[It doesn't mean your ticket price has increased. Airasia use a multi-tier system to sell ticket, the more people buys tickets, the higher the average fare. The next (tier of) tickets get more expensive as more people buys it]

Btw, what price to top up if bad qr? Possible RM1.6?

That's because Tony & his partner are major shareholders of both companies & Tony is the CEO of both companies. They can't manage the two separate companies at two different locations...if that is the case, then they have to keep traveling from location to another to have meetings & do their work (16 hours a day: 8 hours here & 8 hours there).

@risktransformer, I think the facts are there to see the link between AirAsia & AAX. I leave to those/ authorities included and whoever responsible for protecting minorities interest to investigate. I got my doubts heard in this forum. I stop my debating with you.

@InvestWin, look into the website below..... note that AirAsia X is not placed as a subsidiary of AirAsia Group. AirAsia X has its own group of companies.

ChefSaham,

Please read AAX's condensed consolidated income statement which shows EBITDA with care. AAX adopted MFRS 16 in 2019 which requires recording of long term leases into balance sheet but they did not reclassify 2018 numbers for like-to-like comparison on the face of the financials (the impact was instead disclosed in the notes). You would notice that its Aircraft Operating Lease expenses in 2019Q2 was zero compared to 2018Q2 at RM214,992,000.

Note 2 showed Aircraft Operation Lease expenses of RM249,636,000. Once you do the reclassification to move it back on top for like-to-like comparison, the EBITDA deteriorated from negative RM60,489,000 in 2018Q2 to negative RM128,817,000 in 2019Q2.

BTW, with MFRS 16, the Aircraft Operating Lease is now treated as Financing Activities. Therefore, once this is reclassified, the statement

.... "The Company reported a net cash generated from operating activities of RM268.8 million, a significant increase year-on-year (“YoY) from the previous year’s RM23.5 million."

.... becomes RM268.8m - RM249.6m = RM19.2m which means it is generating less cash compared to the year before.

AAX will probably need another rights issue soon.
