With this price, the market seems like quite confirm to tell us that China gonna flood and dump the gloves at lower cost price worldwide. Is it possible in the future?

Unless they have a cost advantage or recent technological breakthrough that we are not aware of, I don't think it is very likely. The expansion comes due to the sudden boost in ASP in 2020-2021. If they do have a comparative advantage over M'sian producer, why not sapu us years ago? Could've done that 10 years ago.

In two three years, the sudden expansion will cause a glut, potentially driving ASP below pre-pandemic level. But it will hurt us and them too. Don't forget that Chinese are still businessmen too. No good profit, makes little sense to continue further expansion.

PMBTECH had double its production from 36,000 mtpa to 72,000 mtpa up to now, up to its 2nd phase project expansion from 4 phase development of 64 hectares ..

ADVANTAGES OF PMBTECH SILICON

Logistic Cost Advantage : Strategically located between the East and the West, Malaysia is located at the straits of Malacca, home to Singapore Port & Port Klang, Malaysia, two of busiest port in the world where shipping rates are favourable.

Locally Sourced Raw Material : Malaysia has readily available raw material which ensures consistency in supply.

Abundant Green Power Supply : Blessed with high rainfall and an abundance of rivers, Sarawak provides affordable, renewable energy through hydropower developments .. 1st hydroelectric plant (HEP) at Batang Ai (108 MW) in 1985, with Bakun HEP in 2011 (2,400 MW), followed by Murum HEP in 2014 (944 MW). Baleh HEP is still under construction & expected to be commissioned by 2025. That will make total capacity 3,452 MW.

CHINA SUPPLY OUTLOOK
Silicon & Aluminium price on a tear

Both silicon & aluminium price soars to their 3-year high. While global solar energy demand drove the recovery from March lows, it was actually news about China changing their environmental policies that fuels the price trend.

China produces more than 50% / 60% of the world’s aluminium / silicon. As mentioned earlier, it takes a great environmental toll to produce these materials. Now that China pivots its environmental concern policies, coal-fired power plants will be discontinued hence potentially shrinking production rates and altering supply-demand balance outlook.

SILICON AS AN ESSENTIAL MATERIAL FOR SOLAR & EV ECONOMY

Solar – The basic component of a solar cell is pure silicon, which also has been used as an electrical component for decades.

Polysilicon (a purer form of silicon) is in acute shortage because of vigorous solar module demand. Over 90% of the current solar cell market is based on silicon currently.

Electronic Vehicles (EV) – Elon Musk announced that Tesla will use more Silicon to replace Cobalt in producing its batteries for its future generation models.

The strategy poise to make Tesla EV a lot more affordable and is seen to be adopted by other EV battery vendors.

AGGRESSIVE CAPACITY EXPANSION

PMBT is undergoing an aggressive expansion plan to meet the world’s silicon demand is impeccable.

Located in Samalaju Industrial Park in Bintulu, Sarawak, it had double production capacity from 36,000 mtpa (1st phase) to 72,000 mtpa (phase 2), current phase.

The co.’s corporate plan indicates that the plant size is of 64 hectares and is suitable for 4 phases of development.

TRADE WAR

Trade war distorts the global supply chain. PMBTECH stands to capture higher market share as a neutral Malaysian producer.

Meanwhile the company’s markets are mainly in Europe and America where there are trade barriers against the Chinese suppliers.

CATALYST

Solar and EV drives silicon demand

Production capacity expands by 2x in 2021

Tesla battery revolution drives more silicon for anode material

Trade war for higher market share

The price really a bit nonsense. Now the price is pre pandemic but in pre pandemic the result mostly is 100m++ only. Even if asp drop, let's say per quarter 600m, it's still 6 times better than pre pandemic time or even if it's 300m also 3 times pre pandemic results. Bursa really unique in a way where common sense doesn't apply

The price trend doesn't make much sense to me. If price is really really low, why don't we see large local and foreign institutions buying in bulks? Why doesn't the Kuans mop up with share buyback like they did a few months ago? Is the coming quarter going to be a lot worse than the preceding quarter?

Lots of questions keeping bang_miskin up at night. Miskin takpe, takut tunggu share price up sudah mati kebuluran.

Gloves stock to fly...

Mabel

23,564 posts

Posted by Mabel > 2021-09-27 08:45 | Report Abuse

One of the most frequent questions I get from the team is what to do when a stock’s price falls 30% to 50% and whether they should buy more, continue to hold, or sell to cut their losses. Tough choice… which is why it’s important to have a systematic and logical investment process to evaluate your investments if/when such an event happens.

So if you’re faced with this dilemma and you’re not sure what to next, here’s the three-step process I always use when one of my stock has fallen by 30% to 50%, or by any significant amount for that matter.

1. Find out what caused the drop
First, you need to find out the reason(s) that caused the company’s share price to fall by 30% to 50%, and evaluate whether the situation is a temporary or permanent one.

If the negative situation is temporary, then the company is more likely to be able to recover and it could present an opportunity to increase your position (or at least hold on to it). But if the situation is permanent and it looks highly unlikely that the company will ever be able to pull through, then the best option is to cut your losses immediately.

2. Are the company’s financials still intact?
Anytime a company’s share price falls by 30% to 50%, the next thing I check is whether the company financials are still intact. When I talk about this, I usually mean the company’s cash position and debt level. My preference is that a company should be in net cash position. The reason why I like to look at the cash and debt positions is because if a company has a net cash position, it has the resources to handle a negative situation better and is likely to recover faster. But if a company is in a net debt position, the debt may affect its recovery process. (Needless to say, a high debt level is also inherently riskier.)

There is one exception for a company with net debt – if its earnings are highly recurring. Therefore, if a company is facing a temporary setback, is in a net cash position and/or has recurring earnings, I would consider adding or holding my position. But if the company has no recurring earnings and is a net debt position, I would probably sell my stake in the company.

3. Is there an opportunity cost?
Every investment you make has an opportunity cost because you choose to invest in this option instead of another.

When you evaluate a company’s negative situation, ask yourself how long the company will take to recover from it. Will the stock bounce back in a year or five years? If it takes more than five years to recover, it might be better to cut your losses and invest in another company that has better immediate prospects over the next five years.

For me TG and Harta is about giving back after gaining so much. She isn’t heavy to hold. It’s the two biggest Glove company in the World and . Very proud to be the share holder of these companies.

EPF buy and sell very normal la

Glove sentiment still very very poor, people take profit/cut loss whenever possible. So price cannot go up, at least for another 2,3 quarter until ASP stabilised. Really up to Harta and other glove counter to produce QR above market expectation. If QR is below expectation, be prepared for another round of selloff.

The pension fund’s response to glove stocks has also been mixed. It disposed of a 0.05% stake in Top Glove Corp Bhd on declining average selling prices, yet increased its shareholding in Hartalega Holdings Bhd by 0.148ppt to 8.303%.

Just my own bias speaking. While I think top 4 gloves are all good buy at their current prices, I think Harta has the best chance of weathering the storm (declining ASP, increased competition etc). Moreover Harta is already at pre-pandemic price while Kossan (already very close to pre-pandemic price) Topglove and Supermax have not reached their pre-pandemic price level.

The problem with the so called 'analysts''' valuations is that they seem to come from the very banks that have vested interests. We know better than to trust their reports. Now they are even insisting in using future profit projections to base their PE calculations arguing that the historical numbers are supernormal.
Whatever to justify their numbers, they'll do it.
I agree that these RSSs seem to be getting out of hand, and the institutional selling is not helping. What can one do apart from watching by the sidelines while wishing this circus ends?
