Based on FA chart, we are very concern about Gamuda future income due to very narrow profit margin. TA chart is worse with huge gap to fill, generally in downtrend.

It is understandable that it was just a strategy to increase the bargaining power of the govt... It seems impossible to cancel the concerned portion as it involves many local workers, suppliers, contractors and compensation as well as lawsuits... I expect, tomorrow, there will be announcement for the concerned parties to meet up, etc for further negotiation, etc. Fingers crossed

I read the media statement issued by Gamuda MMC. if what they mentioned is true I think MOF is too rush to terminate the project without further consideration. Lawsuit will come sooner or later. if going for international tender how many local bumi contractors can qualify based on those stringent requirements? If award to overseas company do you think their cost will be lower comparing to Gamuda MMC? take note they need to buy new equipments and bring resources from overseas. Gamuda invested CAPEX in mrt1 now just reuse the equipment. i don't know what is LGE thinking now.

PENAMATAN kontrak MMC Gamuda turut akan menjejaskan lebih dari 600 syarikat dari rantaian sokongan yang terbabit. - Bloomberg
KUALA LUMPUR: Keputusan kerajaan melaksanakan semula tender kerja bawah tanah projek Mass Transit Line 2 (MRT2), bagi kerja yang belum selesai menerusi proses tender terbuka antarabangsa akan menjejaskan lebih 20,000 tenaga kerja.

MMC Gamuda KVMRT (T) Sdn Bhd (MMC Gamuda) sebagai firma yang diberikan kontrak bagi kerja bawah tanah berkata, penamatan kontrak MMC Gamuda turut akan menjejaskan lebih dari 600 syarikat dari rantaian sokongan yang terbabit.

Daripada angka itu, lebih daripada 3,000 pekerja terdiri daripada kakitangan MMC Gamuda JV, lebih daripada 60 peratus daripada mereka adalah Bumiputera.

“Hal ini akan menyebabkan kesulitan kepada sejumlah besar tenaga kerja mahir Malaysia dalam keadaan pasaran kerja yang lembap kini.

“Di samping itu, semakan semula Kementerian Kewangan (MOF) itu membuatkan hanya kontraktor asing saja yang layak mendapat kontrak kecuali MOF menurunkan paras kelayakan mereka.

“Firma asing yang akan dianugerahkan kontrak ini bakal membawa dan menggunakan tenaga kerja mahir mereka sendiri (dari negara asal firma yang dianugerahkan itu),” katanya dalam satu kenyataan hari ini.

MMC Gamuda berkata, pihaknya juga masih belum menerima sebarang komunikasi atau pemberitahuan daripada MRT Corp.

“Tidak ada pengesahan rasmi dari MRT Corp bahawa MMC Gamuda telah ditamatkan sebagai kontraktor bawah tanah bagi projek MRT2,” kata kenyataan itu.

MMC Gamuda juga katanya, terbuka untuk bekerjasama dengan Kementerian Kewangan (MOF) bagi membincangkan langkah yang perlu diambil kedua-dua pihak untuk projek Transit Aliran Massa Laluan 2 (MRT2).

Katanya, langkah kerajaan untuk mengurangkan kos perbelanjaan projek MRT2 bernilai hampir AS$14 billion (RM58.13 bilion) menyebabkan terdapat jurang perbelanjaan yang menggusarkan.

“Persepsi kami mengenai jurang kos terkini ialah jumlah yang mana tidak boleh dibina. MMC Gamuda percaya bahawa matlamat mengurangkan kos oleh MOF perlu dilakukan selepas kedua-dua pihak mencapai persetujuan berbanding mengakhiri kontrak dan melonggarkan semula baki kerja bawah tanah.

“Walaupun MOF sudah menyatakan pengurangan yang ditawarkan sebanyak RM2.3 bilion masih tidak mencukupi, tetapi sehingga hari ini mereka (MOF) masih tidak memberikan sasaran kos pengurangan yang dimahukan.

“Jika angka sasaran dibuat bersama, kedua pihak akan mendapat lebih gambaran mengenai penjimatan yang boleh diambil dan mengurangkan perbezaan kos. Selain itu, perlantikan firma perunding kejuruteraan antarabangsa seperti yang dicadangkan oleh MMC Gamuda akan sangat memudahkan pelaksanaan ini,” katanya dalam satu kenyataan hari ini.

Kenyataan itu berkata, MMC Gamuda pada 8 Ogos 2018, 21 Ogos 2018 dan 24 September 2018 juga sudah menggesa MOF melantik firma perunding kejuruteraan antarabangsa dengan pengalaman yang relevan dalam menjalankan kajian objektif segala keperluan kejuruteraan dan teknikal.

MMC Gamuda berkata, MOF percaya pihaknya dapat menawarkan pengurangan kos lebih banyak bagi kerja-kerja bawah tanah selepas disemak oleh firma perunding kejuruteraan tempatan yang dilantik MOF.

“Sebahagian besar daripada laporan semakan semula itu disangkal oleh MMC Gamuda atas alasan teknikal sebagai terlalu ringkas dan kekurangan pengalaman yang relevan.

“Ironinya, MRT Corp yang mempunyai pakar teknikal yang berpengalaman juga mengeluarkan laporannya sendiri mengenai cadangan firma perundingan tersebut pada 27 Ogos 2018, yang membawa pandangan serupa dengan MMC Gamuda,” katanya.

Saham Gamuda Bhd hari ini mencatat penyusutan harga tertinggi manakala MMC Corp merosot ke paras terendahnya dalam tempoh sembilan tahun, sebelum digantung urus niaga.

MRT2, dirancang untuk menghubungkan Putrajaya ke Sungai Buloh, pada mulanya dianggarkan bernilai RM28 bilion, tetapi bajet pembinaannya meningkat kepada RM56.93 bilion. Ia diikuti rancangan untuk melanjutkan laluan ke Bandar Malaysia, yang mana kerajaan sebelum ini bercadang untuk menjadikan sebagai lokasi pembangunan hab pengangkutan.

Menteri Kewangan, Lim Guan Eng sebelum ini menyatakan, kerajaan bertegas untuk memperoleh nilai yang lebih baik bagi perbelanjaan awam, terutama apabila membabitkan pinjaman dengan jumlah yang besar.
