The wording in the article makes it seem like the school could offer one in-person class, that int'l student need not take, to be compliant. So, Mask Wearing 101, limit 1 student.

no, the university has to certify that the individual student is taking at least one in-person class, a combination of in-person and online full-time is permissible yikes

For generations, people from all over the world have chosen to come to US colleges and universities, providing those educational institutions with much needed tuition revenue, adding to our nation's expertise in science, technology, medical, engineering, and many other fields, exposing US students to international viewpoints, and extending our nation's influence across the globe.

Few other nations have this advantage, but leave it to the Trump administration to totally squander it. The next president should reverse this asinine policy -- and also defund ICE.

Manhattan project would have never been completed without immigrants (actually refugees from Nazi oppression in European universities).
Many pioneers of US Semiconductor, and Software breakthroughs were first generation immigrants as well.

Many u.s citizen continue to be appalled by the immigration policies of this country. This policy is just one more example of the xenophobic fear mongering promulgated by this white supremacist administration. Friends of mine are refugees from Viet Nam. Mostly ethnic Chinese. He is one of the second generation of American-born children in the family, an engineer and contributor to the economy. This administration would have sent his grand parents back to face an uncertain, likely deadly future. These are the people we turn away every day.

HO ho HO Clearly this has no science or public health basis. The students are here and forcing them to leave will create problems of sudden crowding at airports with limited seats available on airlines. Secondly, student expenses contribute to the local economy of college towns. They are already hurting as we speak. I think the president regularly throws out stuff for us to comment about and groan. He may try. I still think the blood of 130,000 deaths are on his hands.

Universities should rent huge buildings and, depending on how many international students they have, arrange it so that there are maybe 2 or 3 students per room, at least 6 feet apart and wearing masks. Then, hire TAs who will go to the front of the class for 15 minutes, hand out assignments and leave. They have fulfilled the in person part of the mandate. Labs could be handled the same way. This is trump and his enablers trying to get revenge in any petty way they can. Surely the great brains at universities can figure out a way to get around this. Just hold on for a few more months!
