If petronas ada help to cover some of the Covid cost then Petronas tak dapat earned rm48bil in last year. Petronas pun ada KPI to achieve leh. Petronas job is to provide the dividend to the gorment leh. Sometime Gorment also request Petronas to give special dividend one leh. Petronas has to be profitable baru can serve the Gorment well leh. Sapnrg is contractor only leh. Correct?

For those blaming local banks for not giving more loans to Sapura. Sapura doesn't just borrow from local banks, they also borrow a lot from foreign banks such as UOB, ING etc. Without foreign banks support, new loan by local banks will just be used to repay foreign banks. End up Sapura still no liquidity. That is why the negotiations took so long, the loan agreements are all intertwined and not easy to get all banks to agree.

As for Petronas, it cannot be seen as giving favoritism to Sapura. If Petronas really opens the floodgate, every single O&G contractors will also come to Petronas to claim standby fees. Even if Petronas really makes an offer to acquire Sapura, it will be at depressed valuation la, don't keep dreaming they will pay a lot of premium for your shares.

Sebenarnya, kerajaan tak perlu suntik satu sen pun ke dalam Sapura ataupun memberi jaminan kerajaan (yang tidak melibatkan bajet kerajaan) kepada Sapura sebagaimana Air Asia pernah ditawarkan.
Ada pilihan lain. Pilihan yang jauh rendah risiko dan bakal jauh lebih menguntungkan kerajaan dan negara.
Cadangan saya ialah Petronas mengambil alih Sapura dari PNB. Dengan ini juga, pelaburan anggaran RM4b ke RM5b PNB akan diselamatkan.
(Kita selamatkan pelabur ASB yang juga Rakyat ye, bukan kroni)
Petronas memang adalah antara customer terbesar Sapura.
Petronas perlukan juga aset-aset, kepakaran dan perkhidmatan Sapura di Malaysia dan juga bagi projek-projek seluruh dunia mereka.

Atok and gang wash hands ady and old government let PNB suffer.

Government already know that Saprng will be lost given the circumstance (with vendors and banks). Its not a matter of "if or when". Its a fact.

Since the current government has the will for Petronas to take over PNB shares with no loss to PNB, I believe Petronas would provide the guarantees for working capital for it to continue.

As a business, consider it a mid-term solution, maybe 3-5 years to be back to its heyday.

At least rather than being an anchovie, someone actually come up with constructive solutions.

All the price targets being harped now are based off if Petronas didn't not become major shareholder.

Fundamentally if we follow Warren Buffett Value Investing criteria, Sapnrg is totally completely out. However this could be a potentially a turnaround story. A Multi baggers opportunity!. However the risk is very high with this company.

Mabel usually put 15-20% of my capital to trade in this type of highly speculative counters. Please don't follow me. I have already make money from Plantation, Energy, Techs and Glove counters and came in when it is already at dirt cheap price. So for me this is for fun to eat more Lobsters at dirt cheap price..

PETALING JAYA: National oil company Petronas has denied holding any discussions with the government on a proposal to take over Sapura Energy Bhd.

Petronas acknowledged that there had been speculation on “purported talks” with Putrajaya on a proposal for it to acquire a significant stake in Sapura.

“Petronas wishes to categorically deny these reports and speculations,” it said in a brief statement today.

“The group has always been and will continue to be strictly guided by an established framework for any investment or divestment consideration.

“Petronas wishes to emphasise it remains committed to working closely together with the oil and gas services and equipment (OGSE) industry players, leveraging on their expertise and capability as activities increase with the industry recovering from the impact of Covid-19.”

Sapura, a government-linked company (GLC), had announced a loss of RM8.9 billion last year, which former prime minister Najib Razak said was the largest for any Malaysian GLC in history.

The Pekan MP had proposed that the government intervene by providing easy interest loans or loan guarantees to Sapura to solve its cash flow problems.

Alternatively, Najib said, Putrajaya could direct Petronas or Khazanah Nasional Bhd to take over ownership of Sapura, citing how Petronas still required Sapura’s services for its projects and had a better understanding of the sector.

Any take over or bail out can only start after debt restructure...won't be so soon.
First must get approval from creditor...if can't bankruptcy is almost certain.

With 10 billion debt, no bail out can success.

Sapura will be safe by BN government. GE 15 after raya. Preparation started already. PM lost moral ground to rule anymore as his government lost vote for sosma bill. BN and others now saying PH violated the agreement. All UMNO minister and MP meet at hotel in Putrajaya. PH now brace for after shock impact of wrong strategy in not voting for sosma as UMNO prepare for the election. Gendang sudah berbunyi. Goodluck Sapura. May luck on yourside.

Belum tentu BN sure win big mah. Opposition need to avoid multiple corner fight still can prevent BN from winning. BN alone may not be able to form gorment if Sarawak GPS and PAS takda sapot leh.
