What investors should be looking at is whether:

1. Was the oil field bought at a reasonable price (I think so, they somewhat took advantage of the oil price dip at the end of 2014, didn't they? lucky perhaps?)
2. Is Cliq's developement plan a good one?
3. Will all the above result in profit?

In any case, I don't think there is a problem with the current production amount (1,400 bbl/d from 90 wells), considering what Cliq is doing is to buy a somewhat under-developed oil field and try to develop it further.

Cliq's plan to implement polymer injection is spot on considering that EOR methods have been known to work well with sandstone formations such as the field that Cliq bought. Added with the plan to add more wells, Ziyad mentions a target of 7,500bbld in two years. Ambitious? perhaps. IMHO, it might not go that high, but a tripling of flow rates to around 4,000, maybe 5,000 bbld should not be too difficult to reach in two years. With other EOR methods used until 2031 (end of subsoil use contract), they should be able to recover a good amount of all that oil.

All their other development plans are also in the view of reducing cost. I guess in the end, if you think they can pull it off, then you'd be looking at an enterprise value like the one i calculated above, or more. Otherwise, the current market price should be about fair (money in piggy bank remember?).

the share price would only move when 1) the deal is completed 2) QA approved by SC and shareholders 3) actual production in Kazakhstan...in other words, gotta have little bit more patience..

once SC approval, share price will rocket to at least 0.72

but that is mere speculation, by right the share price will only shoot up when actual production happens in Kazakhstan. Then again I still think that it is a good deal though. Just have to patiently wait. But if the share price shoots up (because of speculation) also good lorr..can make money faster... haha

Kamarul Baharin Albakri, Executive Director and CFO, CLIQ Energy

January 2015

Q: Looking back over 2014, what lessons has your company, and indeed the industry as a whole, learned that you’re taking forward into your business planning for 2015?

A: CLIQ Energy started its journey as a special purpose acquisition company (“SPAC”). By definition, a SPAC is an entity with no business and no operational track record. Armed with an experienced and skilled team of board of directors, management team and a pragmatic business approach, we embarked on a quest to list ourselves on Bursa Malaysia (Malaysian Stock Exchange).

Following the successful IPO raising a total of RM336.4 million, today, CLIQ Energy is traversing an exciting phase and we are motivated by what future holds for us towards our goal of becoming a junior, independent, international E&P Company. (1st stage of creating shareholders value)

For 2014, CLIQ Energy Board together with the management team were kept extremely busy sieving through various legal, financial, operational and technical issues that required due diligence following the identification of target assets. At our Qualifying Acquisition (“QA”) stage, we will focus on lower risk assets towards achieving faster financial results in terms of revenue and cash flow.

Upon successful completion of our QA, CLIQ Energy will raise proceeds of RM315.5 million, from the exercise of all the warrants, part of the initial IPO scheme. With the funds, CLIQ Energy will continue to pursue strategic mergers and acquisitions to achieve a balanced portfolio of assets. This will enhance shareholder’s value and ensure medium to long term business sustainability and growth for our new venture.(2nd stage of creating shareholders value)

Petra Energy ‘mum’ on why CEO was terminated

PETALING JAYA: Petra Energy Bhd has stayed mum on why the services of its chief executive officer (CEO) were terminated on Tuesday. The sudden move has left many investors and observers clueless about what next to expect.

Kamarul Baharin Albakri ceased to be the CEO of the integrated oil and gas brownfield service provider on Dec 20.

He was appointed as an executive director of the group on Feb 18, 2010 and CEO on April 27, 2010.

Before joining the group, Kamarul was the former CEO of TH Technologies Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Lembaga Tabung Haji, with an accomplished track record for the last 15 years.

When contacted by StarBiz, Petra Energy corporate communications and branding senior general manager Saperi Rambli said in an e-mail that the management did not wish to comment on the matter at this point in time, leaving analysts puzzled by the sudden change.

One thing is for sure, Saperi said, Kamarul would not head any other subsidiaries of Petra Perdana Bhd and Petra Energy. However, Kamarul will remain a director of Petra Energy.

Despite being without a head right now, the spokesperson said the company was considering its option and was expected to reach a decision shortly.

Another spokesperson of the company said the change in management was not as abrupt as it was perceived.

“The change in management was not abrupt, it's just that discussions had been going on, and it was made known to the public only recently,” he said. Last month the group reported a third-quarter loss due to lower revenue recorded by its marine offshore support services.

It recently said the revision of a daily charter rate for vessel and lower activities for onshore civil engineering services due to completion of the Kumang project in the current quarter had affected its performance.

For the quarter to Sept 30, 2011, the group posted RM13.7mil net loss compared with RM4.8mil net profit the same period a year ago.

Revenue for the quarter was RM158.6mil against RM159mil before.

For the nine-month period, the group posted a RM4.6mil net loss on the back of RM432.7mil revenue. Previously, it reported RM10.6mil net profit and RM484mil revenue.
