At present, Velesto, with seven jack-up rigs, is the dominant player while Perisai Petroleum Teknologi Bhd, which owns Perisai Pacific 101, is the only other player with jack-up rigs, which would indicate that there could be an uptick in utIlisation.

Even a pn17 to b delisted also awarded 20 m usd contract. Could it b turn around of Perisai petroleum ?

Every boat, barge or whatever has to undergo recertification. It takes about two months — so no earnings for two months — and for rigs, the cost can be significant. For rigs, it can be as much as US$10 million or more, to recertify one rig

. There is a requirement for 16 to 18 jack-up rigs but there are only eight rigs in Malaysia. So, how will eight rigs [meet] an 18-rig requirement?

KUALA LUMPUR: Velesto Energy Bhd, formerly known as UMW Oil & Gas Corp Bhd, won US$104.68 million jack up drilling jobs from Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd.

In its filing to Bursa Malaysia today, Velesto Energy said its wholly-owned unit Velesto Malaysia Ventures Sdn Bhd has received four letters of awards for the provision of jack-up drilling rig services for its jack-up rigs, namely NAGA 2, NAGA 3, NAGA 5 and NAGA 6 respectively.

Velesto said the first three contracts, which start April/May, will involve its jack-up drilling rigs known as NAGA 2, NAGA 3 and NAGA 5 respectively. The fourth contract will start in June/July and Velesto will assign NAGA 6.

NAGA 2 and NAGA 3 are premium independent-leg cantilever jack-up drilling rigs that have a drilling depth capability of 30,000 feet and have a rated operating water depth of 350 feet.

NAGA 5 has a drilling depth capability of 30,000 feet and a rated operating water depth of 400 feet whereas NAGA 6 has a drilling depth capability of 30,000 feet and a rated operating water depth of 375 feet.

These jobs are expected to contribute positively to the earnings and net assets of the group, this year.

Even if Perisai's rig is 400ft, the market day rate for 400ft is not even $100k yet, Do remember that Perisai is PN17 company. Usually Petronas does not award contracts to companies with bad financial position as there will be questionable quality of work or concern in completing the work.

company depends on the drilling rigs rate offer. most of the rigs on short term. if the price of crude drop. drilling rate will follow { compared to fixed term job rates } most analysts forecast crude oil price at USD 60- 65 { within optimum price exploration}
