Even without the scoring system, as a business owner i would still subscribe to their service for other purposes. The scoring system is just indicative where it can be replaced with something else.

The judge also not an industry expert, his ruling that CTOS cannot create its own credit rating will be overturned in the appeals court because this is the norm of credit data agencies to unlock value through innovative use of the data. If all credit data agencies were to just act as depositories then big data will fail all over the world. Furthermore, this ruling if allowed to stand will be detrimental to our data analysis industry because it ties everyone's hands to only looking at data but cannot say anything. This judge should have had an expert witness or practice some restraint in his ruling.

CTOS could only argue at Court of Appeal later if they decided to file an appeal; that the credit score is an value added service. That's their only bullet to overturn the High Court's decision..

CTOS model of business is causing the less well to do unable to obtain loans due to their disregard










CTOS business model of providing credit scoring for financial institution to rely on is
causing the lower income group to suffer as they have low scoring thus unable to obtain loan.
Their system is too rigid and not flexible thus causing tremendous hardship to the less
fortunate to obtain any loan. They should just stitch to collecting data while letting the financial
institutions/credit companies decide whether to grant a loan to a borrower. The recent High court
decision is a wake up call for Bank Negara Malaysia to blindly allowing CTOS to behave like a bank

The judge is confused between CCRIS and CTOS. If based on his judgement, no private companies can process the data from CCRIS to provide their own independant 3rd party services. So agencies like RAM etc all can close shop.
