Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said on Thursday his government was committed to improve the country’s fiscal position and would announce steps to do so in his next annual budget speech in October.

"We do understand there is a need to strengthen the fiscal and macro position of the government," Najib told a news conference.

Ratings agency Fitch cut its outlook on Malaysia’s sovereign debt to negative on Tuesday, citing gloomier prospects for reforms to tackle the Southeast Asian country’s rising debt burden following a divisive election result this year.-- Reuters

looks like to scale down qe not too soon

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. employers slowed their pace of hiring in July but the jobless rate fell anyway, mixed signals that could make the U.S. Federal Reserve more cautious about drawing down its huge economic stimulus program.

NEW YORK, Aug 2 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks edged slightly lower on Friday after the July payroll report came in weaker than expected

Next week onwards, all the high rollers r expected to be back in action
full time.

The 'kwailor' took the opportune time to downgrade our country knowing
very well that our powerful high roller fund managers r away in the
festive season. Only by doing so, their voice can be effective to plunge
our stocks momentarily. Not to worry, these rating agencies r known
to be always looking at the rear mirror. They r completely blind n will miss the bright future ahead.

today so far up +9.4, index at 1794 looking to challenge 1800. top 10 most active all r penny stocks, FITCH rating issue seems vanished into thin air. so far ringgit dropped 3 years low against USD, the broader markets believe soon to release major indicators will show "encourage" sign of economy recovery, which may on the other hand push fed to confirm scaling back QE in September...

looks like a good time to restructure penny stock portfolio, good luck!

The return of old time favorite stocks.
The value play is well n continuing...

QE 1, 2, 3 is FED's repeated syndicated buying high in old T-bills n selling low of new T-bills to top biggest banks in the US, thus making these 'zombie' banks very profitable.
A simple number entering process to these banks resulting in organic gain in their books.
The money never enters the mkt ! Nothing much to worry about, except those 'zombie' banks.

@ht, rebalance. suggest sell (50%?) those which have achieved its target (or close to), reduce quantity (50%?) on those stagnant stock but healthy, sell all on those speculative one. lost making group better cut off now. objective is to greatly up cash level, enter defensive position until all key events' impact (global economy, qe, currency, ummo election) r clear. afterall, should u enter now, how much % can u get in return confidently vs the upfront risk u take?

stock market is no supermarket, no need in/out everyday. sometime keeping a distance help to clear up mind. good luck!

it's about turning yr cash position into defensive; restructure in this way so u will have the right capacity to get offensive once key direction show itself. this doesn't mean u can only hold defensive stock though, u gotta look into what price u r holding; already how much ROI there and decide according to the comment above

water theme seems promising but can it be done b4 ummo settle among themselves? no question o&g will remain as one of the market darling in time to come. for both at its current price level vs q4 market challenges, certainly not a intra/contra thing. since v r talking about short/long term holding, obviously as of now there is no rush at all. suggest once u have all the cash setup, u may slowly and steadily (buy on dip?) collect... till the case is GO, u r at the upper hand to mount a full force attack. should the case NO GO, yr lost is minimum

good luck, pal!

thanx again iafx for your insight. i'm a short term player (1 - 2 mths) and so far my holdings quite focus ie not more than 4 at any 1 time nor put evrything into 1 basket. i also turn trader when cukup makan (sometimes only as have to realize minimal profit when sudden mkt change). of coz there were times had to cut loss along the way!

currently i'm heavy on TGOFF (I've offloaded 1/2 of my holdings last month but have started to collect some back) inwait for the new company direction (proposed acquisition + rights). purchases were done on multiple batches as price moved up. any comment on this? thanx

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-08-22/china-manufacturing-index-increases-in-sign-economy-stabilizing.html

A Chinese manufacturing index rose in August from an 11-month low, adding to signs the world’s second-biggest economy is stabilizing.

The preliminary reading of 50.1 for a Purchasing Managers’ Index (EC11FLAS) released today by HSBC Holdings Plc and Markit Economics compares with a final figure of 47.7 in July and the 48.2 median estimate in a Bloomberg News survey of 16 economists. A number above 50 indicates an expansion.

A strengthening U.S. economy and Europe’s nascent recovery are improving the outlook for demand for goods from China, the world’s biggest exporter, as Premier Li Keqiang grapples with containing financial risks at home. The nation will achieve the government’s 7.5 percent growth target this year even after a two-quarter slowdown, a Bloomberg News survey of economists indicates.

i. Forget Everything And Ran.
ii. Face Everything And Rise.

The choice is yours.
This is food for thought from RATAN TATA, the Indian Billionaire.

KLCI is being hit by 'financial accident' led by attack on our Ringgit.
In all accidents there r sure people coming to help. Yet to see people offer to help in this 'financial accident', more so from the opposition.
It is so ironic that they r running down our country n economy in times like this n causing many to dump away their stocks for cheap.

Will focus on searching the new great winners for the next up wave, something like last favco, myeg...
might be good to sell into strength 1st then buy back later.
it's a better order sequence of entry this way.
for daredevil, good buying was ysterday = a down day n to complete a round trip with sell on up day/s.

It could take weeks to see a KLCI trend reversal.

this is how u will pay the bill for smuggled subsidied petrol, diesel & gas to sell in black market. instead of stopping the loop hole, the best gov can do is hike legal price to the innocent:

"Electricity bills are likely to go up as the Government is expected to reduce subsidies for natural gas in its bid to improve Malaysia’s fiscal position" (http://www.thestar.com.my/Business/Business-News/2013/08/30/Higher-electricity-bills-likely.aspx)
