Rohas - The potential turnaround company that you might want to be looking at
Reasons to look into Rohas
1. JENDELA and 5G Tower roll out
- Work permits for the construction of over 600 new telecommunication towers in Sarawak totaling more than RM1bil
Source: https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2021/10/09/process-to-build-over-600-telecommunication-towers-in-sarawak-to-begin-this-month-says-annuar
- Rohas Tecnic is touted to be one of the beneficiaries of the Sarawak government’s push for infrastructure development, especially for telecommunication towers. In the past, the company has had contracts for tower fabrication with Sarawak.
There are quite significant contracts coming out of Sarawak and ROHAS is optimistic with Sarawak. The company’s fabrication plants in Bentong, Pahang, are busy fulfilling its contracts for telecommunication towers for Sarawak.

- To enable 5G coverage in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Cyberjaya, Tharek says 500 sites and towers had to be built. If each telco were to provide its own 5G network and services, each telco would need to build its own infrastructure, which means 2,000 will be needed just to support 5G in these three areas.

2. ROHAS has won some projects which could translate into profit in the near term
- Rohas Tecnic Bhd had secured a transmission line fabrication job with an estimated value of RM37 million.
The project is expected to have a positive impact on Rohas Tecnic’s results for the year ending Dec 31, 2021 and in the future.

- Infrastructure engineering firm Rohas Tecnic Bhd had secured a RM85.15 million contract from the Selangor state government.
The project which has a tenure of 12 months is expected to have a positive impact on the group’s results for the year ending Dec 31, 2022.

3. The most convincing part about ROHAS is when the management gives out a positive remark on their outlook
The massive Jendela and 5G programs will offer scope for our tower manufacturing and installation units to participate while we see signs that long-delayed infrastructure projects in water and power are being revived. Overseas, our now-completed mini hydro plant in Lawe Sikap, Indonesia has started contributing while the demand for water is driving growth for our associate water company in Long An, Vietnam.
We are cautiously optimistic that the months and year to follow will see the Group return to profitability.

a 4G cell tower can cover a range radius of 16KM only,
BUT a 5G cell tower can only cover up to a range of 300 meters only!
u do the math, how many more towers will be required nationwide to implement 5G.
don't forget Rohas also operates internationally such as Cambodia, who is also racing to 5G.
with the recent QR already back to black,
the next QR in Feb will be even better ( + water treatment income in vietnam and indonesia )
so why Rohas you ask?
this is the company that was relisted in 2017, giving consistent dividends,
so much so it remains resilient and able to sail through the pandemic and return to profitability in 2022.
if this doesn't make you confident as the price fluctuations and volume worries you,
then best you'd stay away for long term investors to stay :)

1/ No towers, no 5G
2/ Digital economy progression, both nationwide and in Cambodia
3/ Sarawak's ambitious plan to deliver electricity to Singapore, will require more conduits and towers to channel electricity to the undersea channel cable, benefiting from Bakun dam.
4/ Recurring income from water treatment plants in Indonesia
All these bodes well for this unpolished gem.
plus at this price, margin of safety is good,
a very safe bet.
