Oil is and will still be required for the foreseeable future

Merry Christmas everyone.

While climate change is important and we have to do our best to forestall it, we must however take cognisance that it is not going to happen overnight. It will take generations. One generation is 25 years, so several generations will be anything from 50 to 100 years. Yes, by then I will be long gone.

I am an investor, so, I need to understand which trend will bring me the best return for 2020 and the years to come. And the trend / theme or what ever you want to call it, it is,

OIL

I have been researching on how to explain to the many sceptics that oil is yesterday news. Oil industry is to be avoided like the plague, etc. is the wrong narrative.

Without reinventing the wheel, here is an article written in March 2018 that explains the issues with renewable energy very clearly:

https://medium.com/the-outsider-news/on-armageddon-part-3-the-threat-of-climate-change-dd85f7b5070c

and here is the other article that estimate the cost to just use PV to achieve the transition:

There must be perspective, an understanding of the physical world, the technology required and finally does it make sense or not, especially to replace a coal-fired electricity generating plant with solar cells.

Again, I would like to refer to what Datuk Seri Cheah Cheng Hye said in Star Power talk (March 2017)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_YhizrBoys

“One must learn to forecast six months ahead”

I have been trying to learn that skill and I must admit it is difficult, but, NOT impossible.

Do make time to listen to him. This is my second time and I still find it so refreshing.

Merry Christmas once again and hope that next year will be much more joyful and meaningful.
