NOW CHINA ALREADY HAS 25,000 KM OF HIGH SPEED RAIL

High-speed rail (HSR) in China is the country's network of passenger-dedicated railways designed for speeds of 250–350 km/h (155–217 mph). In 2017 HSR extended to 29 of the country's 33 provincial-level administrative divisions and exceeded 25,000 km (16,000 mi) in total length, accounting for about two-thirds of the world's high-speed rail tracks in commercial service.[1][2] It is the world's longest HSR network and is also the most extensively used, with 1.713 billion trips delivered in 2017 bringing the total cumulative number of trips to 7 billion.[3][4]

Almost all HSR trains, track and service are owned and operated by the China Railway Corporation under the brand China Railway High-speed (CRH) with only few exceptions. The China Railway High-speed (CRH) high-speed train service was introduced in April 2007 featuring high-speed train sets called Hexie Hao (simplified Chinese和谐号traditional Chinese和諧號pinyinHéxié Hào; literally: "Harmony") and Fuxing Hao (simplified Chinese复兴号traditional Chinese復興號pinyinFùxīng Hào; literally: "Rejuvenation") running at speed from 250 km/h to 350 km/h on upgraded/dedicated high-speed track. The Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Rail, which opened in August 2008 and could carry high-speed trains at 350 km/h (217 mph), was the first passenger dedicated HSR line.

High-speed rail developed rapidly in China over the past 15 years thanks to generous funding from the Chinese government, especially the economic stimulus program during the Great Recession. The removal of Railway Minister Liu Zhijun for corruption and a fatal high-speed railway accident near Wenzhou in 2011 raised concerns about safety as well as affordability, financial sustainability and environmental impact.[5] The HSR building boom has nevertheless continued with the HSR network set to reach 38,000 km (24,000 mi) in 2025[6] and 45,000 km (28,000 mi) in the longer term.[7][8]

China's early high-speed trains were imported or built under technology transfer agreements with foreign train-makers including AlstomSiemensBombardier and Kawasaki Heavy Industries. Since the initial technological support, Chinese engineers have re-designed internal train components and built indigenous trains manufactured by the state-owned CRRC Corporation.

The advent of high-speed rail in China has greatly reduced travel time and has transformed Chinese society and economy. A World Bank study found "a broad range of travelers of different income levels choose HSR for its comfort, convenience, safety and punctuality."[9]

Notable HSR lines in China include the Beijing–Guangzhou High-Speed Railway which at 2,298 km (1,428 mi) is the world's longest HSR line in operation, the Beijing–Shanghai high-speed railway with the world's fastest operating conventional train services and the Shanghai Maglev, the world's first high-speed commercial magnetic levitation line, whose trains run on non-conventional track and reach a top speed of 430 km/h (267 mph

MALAYSIA PLUS NORTH SOUTH HIGHWAY IS 748 KILOMETERS

North-South Expressway (NSE)

The NSE is the longest expressway in Malaysia with the total length of 748 kilometres running from Bukit KayuHitam in Kedah near the Malaysia-Thai border to Johor Bahru at the southern portion of Peninsular Malaysia. The expressway links many major cities and towns in western Peninsular Malaysia, acting as the 'backbone' of the west coast of the peninsula. It provides a faster alternative to the old federal route, thus reducing travelling time between various towns and cities.

Constructed in phases over a period of seven years, the NSE was officially opened on September 8 1994, signaling the coming of age of Malaysia's road transportation system.

IF YOU DIVIDE CHINA HSR OF 25,000KM  BY PLUS HIGHWAY OF 748 KM

CHINA HAS 33.4 TIMES MORE HSR RAIL TRACKS COMPARED TO PLUS NORTH SOUTH HIGHWAY.

THAT MEANS THAT CHINA HAS BUILT HSR EQUIVALENT TO 33.4 PLUS NORTH SOUTH HIGHWAYS

AND MALAYSIA'S OWN HSR SUPPOSE TO BE READY BY YEAR 2026 IS NOW SCRAPPED DUE TO COST FACTOR?

IF MALAYSIA PPP IS 13.5% HIGHER THAN CHINA THEN HOW COME THESE HSR (25,000 KM LONG IN TOTAL) ARE UP AND RUNNING?

THESE FIGURES ARE NOT SKEWED BUT COULD BE VERIFIED BY EVERYONE IN MALAYSIA OR ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD.

QUESTION NOW IS

WILL MALAYSIA PAY AN EVEN HIGHER PRICE IN FUTURE IF HSR IS ONCE AGAIN REINSTITUTED?

OR WILL HSR BE PERMANENTLY OFF MALAYSIA RADAR?

SHORT TERM IS BREAD AND BUTTER ISSUE OF SCRAPPING GST, MORE BRIM, PETROL SUBSIDY & OTHER SHORT TERM MEASURES.

WHAT ABOUT THE FUTURE?

WHAT KIND OF A FUTURE?

AT 83, 114 & 139 PPP FOR THAILAND, INDONESIA & INDIA RESPECTIVELY WITH USD INCOME FROM USD6,591 TO A LOW OF USD1,983 PPP

THESE 3 ARE HAVING HSR IN PROGRESS.

SO IS TAIWAN & SOUTH KOREA. BOTH TAIWAN & KOREA ALREADY HAVE HSR UP AND RUNNING.

INCIDENTALLY TAIWAN HSR IS 349.5 KM - ALMOST SAME AS KL-SPORE 350KM

 Taiwan 24,577

27  South Korea 29,891

THE COMBINED PPP OF TAIWAN & SOUTH KOREA IS USD24,577 PLUS  USD29,891 = USD54,468

AND THE COMBINED PPP OF BOTH TAIWAN & SOUTH KOREA OF USD54,468 STILL LOSE TO SINGAPORE AT USD57,713

DON'T SEE WITH MYOPIC EYESIGHT THAT MALAYSIA GOT TO SPEND MORE BUILDING THE HSR

LOOK AT THE BRIGHTER SIDE

HOW MUCH MORE MONIES SINGAPOREANS WILL SPEND IN JOHOR, MELAKA, SEREMBAN, KL AND BEYOND.

HOW MANY MORE TOURISTS ON TRANSIT IN SINGAPORE WILL HOP OVER TO KL?

IF KL - SPORE ALREADY THE WORLD'S BUSIEST AIR ROUTE KL SINGAPORE HSR MIGHT WELL BE THE WORLD'S HOTTEST HIGH SPEED RAIL ROUTE TOO

AND WILL KL BECOME THE HOTTEST PROPERTY BOOM CAPITAL OVERTAKING TOKYO, SHANGHAI, LONDON OR NEW YORK IN THE UPCOMING ASIAN PACIFIC CENTURY?

THE DIRECTION MALAYSIA TAKE WILL DETERMINE HER LONG TERM FUTURE

THKEN

CHINA HAS 25,000 KM OF HSR WITH 1.4 BILLION PEOPLE OR ABOUT 44 TIMES MALAYSIA 31 MILLION PEOPLE

CHINA HSR IS 33.4 TIMES OF PLUS TOTAL NORTH SOUTH HIGHWAY OF 748 KM

KL TO SPORE IS ONLY HALF OF 748KM (PLUS) AT 350 KM

SO IF WE TAKE CHINA 25,000KM HSR AND DIVIDES BY KL-SPORE ONLY 350KM IT WILL BE 66 TIMES KL-SPORE HSR

SO SEE AGAIN THE FIGURES

CHINA HAS 44 X MORE PEOPLE THAN MALAYSIA

BUT CHINA HAS 66 TIMES MORE KL-SPORE HSR LENGTH

CHINA HSR ARE ALL UP AND RUNNING EVERYWHERE

MALAYSIA WILL GET ONE SHORT 350KM BY YEAR 2026?

OR 3,026?

OR NEVER AT ALL?

I don't think our malaysian spring would inspire a regime change in singapore but i do think it is possible that PAP might lose more seats in the next GE because there was already crack in the first place.

PAP is worried

2018-05-30 02:03

Why_

PAP asking RM 500 million doing nothing for HSR cancellation too much. PAP corrupt like BN?

Dear all,
Just do the math at cost of RM 110 billion. Interest will be how much. Need how many raidership and at what fare per passager to just break even. What wrong with our current double track ETS system able to travel at 140 km per hour.
Thank you.

For those who can do simple calculation ,you will know TUN M is right.HSR can not earn a single cent.

This is a rich man's problem. If you are rich, you must cut down travelling time because time is money. However if you are saddled with debts, do you think cut down travelling time to Singapore is priority?

2018-05-30 08:30

Simply, HSR's biggest winner is China. Next is Singapore, which by then will be the truly the "Southern Gateway" to Asia. As only a pass trough, there are very little materiel benefit to Malaysia, other than to the construction company/s and some "brokers". When it is up and running, it will isolate Indonesia, Philippines and Taiwan to traditional sea & air routes, from "Asia Mainland" under Chinese "control". India will be pressured further. This network also strategically hedges Singapore against the nightmare idea of the cutting of a Suez like canal at the Kra area north of the Malay Peninsular, if it ever arises again. That is why it is natural that the alarm bells are ringing louder in Singapore.

biggest loser will be those owning property in jurong. iskandar property transaction will drop too.

2018-05-30 08:42

okdoke

HSR is designed to solve rich mans' problem. The poor (and middle) would not need to travel as fast as HSR can offer. Double track KTM will do just fine. The priority is food on table and other basic needs. Food Prices are getting higher. Also, the rich can cut down travelling with the use of technology ie meeting via teleconference skype. My two cents opinion.

hmmm......since we are on the topic of railway & Singapore, I like to ask if anyone knows what happened to the money and joint development project that spun out of Malaysian Gov's letting go of its railway land across and into Central Singapore? Is HSR part of it?

First I want to let all know that Calvin is apolitical. So i am here to talk about investing.

Those railway lands have been swapped for other better useful lands in Singapore
As for the existing railway lands they are now used as jogging tracks with no commercial use.

And these are the lands given to Malaysia as compensation

See

https://www.straitstimes.com/politics/how-the-joint-venture-behind-marina-one-and-duo-came-to-be

I didn't follow up on Singapore side as my focus is mainly on Malaysia

The JV between Temasek & Khazanah was building AFINITI CONDO (just opposite Legoland) and AVIRA Landed Houses opposite Sunway Pendas.

AFINITI was a sell out. For AVIRA response is Ok but i think price is too steep for its price of over Rm1.3 millions a unit.

I am looking to buy them at at least 50% to 60% discount from Johor High Court Auction. Maybe 3 to 4 years later?

u must check how much China pays for HSR............half or one-third?

2018-05-30 10:46

calvintaneng

Why people voted out BN?

Main reason is high cost of living due to

1MDB that destroyed confidence in ringgit. Weakened ringgit caused imports of everything from China to go up by 20% to 30%.
Squeezing everyone

Then Crude Oil crash caused Govt to implement GST (if no 1MDB at least ringgit didn't crash so much)

And with GST everyone (especially the poor) turns against BN and booted it out.

So All went to PH & Kelantan & Trengganu polarized to PAS

if the HSR were to proceed.. and taking a RM 110 billion loan, say at 3.5% interest.. each year MOF or the msians have to pay around RM 4 billion..to service the bank interest alone..
i dont think the train can make them $4 billion a year of net profit..?
so if we dont want to pay via GST or others, then no need to argue..its a clear decision.

calvin, did u know both china n japan r maker of hsr? we are just user. this point is a huge point, the revenue bring in to china n japan by just using HSR as a product. not to mention china hsr building were to resolve financial slow down in 2016 as well as resources overcapacity including steel, aluminium and high skill worker.

calvin,
Your bullish position has come tumbling down on you, eh. Your opinion on this is so skewed. First of all, both Japan and China are creditor nations with high population density. We are up to our ears in debt. Secondly, the amount of leakage was relatively low in those countries compared to Malaysia. All those companies whose shares you bought are nothing more than rent seeking cronies. Large tracts of land destined to be built into stations were bought ahead by insiders (cronies, no doubt) looking for a big payday when the project starts.
Indeed, one day we may need the HSR but it is so far in the future that the interests on the borrowings would have buried the nation way before then.
Sorry about your portfolio. Another day, perhaps?

Except of daily Johorean workers plying to & fro Spore, the number of Msians touristy going to Spore has decreased substantially compared to early 70s & 80s bcos of higher Spore Dollar agst RM. So HSR will not benefit Msians and the fare is definitely not coming to be cheaper compared to AirAsia or other budget airlines.
