Surging property prices in Johor as seen from recent transactions with KSL, Paragon Globe, Crescendo and AME Elite are some of the anecdotal evidence that land prices are indeed moving up. Hence, one needs to take a closer look at IWCity as it lags behind its peers by a far margin. Hence, an opportunity for the late comers to catch up with very low downside risks.

There are too many variable and moving parts in the calculation. I don't do that and there is no need to quantify all the numbers to get the share price up. As long as, production crosses breakeven and economies of scale kicks in, unless you have access to management, your guess is as good as mine.

Technically, I don't forecast company profits, i only forecast share price momentum. Old hands should understand what i am talking about.

If the share prices of Western Digital (WDC) and Seagate Technology (STX) on Nasdaq is doing well, there is no reason to think that share prices of JCY International (JCY) should do any lesser. The logic, simply because JCY's business well-being is highly corelated to its customers WDC and STX since they co-exist within the same value chain.


JCY being the up stream component manufacturer & part assembler whilst WDC and STX being the brand owner and downstream seller of the finished product (HDD & SSD). As much as WDC and STX are both very important customer of JCY, likewise JCY is an important component supplier to its customers. No-one should discount this business link.

JCY.KL (JCY International) +310.0% (low base rock bottom effect). Isn't This The Beginning Of Recovery Or Share Price Too Aggressive In A Short Time? JCY IPO Price was set at RM1.60 at a Market Cap of RM3.1bn when it was listed back in February 2010.

On a YTD basis, JCY has surged more than 3X from a low of RM0.15 (a year ago) on the back of big improvement in its last quarter results. So the question is will JCY continue to outperform its customers and how?

Second half of 2024 results are expected to be better than First Half as confidently guided by management in their result review and commentary in May.

Operational Leverage and Economies of Scale for JCY is Much Greater Than its Customers'. At slightly below 50% plant utilization rate, JCY is already clocked in RM5.34mn in net profit. Ask any production manager or factory owners that manufactures goods how important is it to get pass breakeven utilization rate. When utilization rate surpass breakeven level, profits can flow in exponentially with every improvement in utilization rate (also known as economies of scale).

RM1.5bn Contract Win; Second Win(d) and More To Come.

MMHE announced yesterday that it has secured a subcontract worth RM1.5bn to build an offshore substation at a wind farm in the Netherlands. The fabrication works of the substation platform — which receives power produced from the wind farm and stepped up before being transmitted onshore — will begin in 2025 for 36 months.

With this award, MMHE’s order book stands at RM6.9bn, giving it a Price to Order Book Ratio of 0.1X only. Simply putting it, with annual revenue recognition of RM2.0bn, the current order book could last through 3.5 years if no contracts were further tendered.

For MMHE, this is their second offshore wind contract after they secured the first one in November 2023 for the manufacturing of the OSS HVDC platform for the IJmuiden Ver Alpha project in the Netherlands.

In addition, MHB and Petrofac said they will collaborate towards the possibility of another OSS of similar size.

For those who like to buy on breakout, then it's time to average down, and for those who prefer to buy on consolidaton after breakout this is a good opportunity to join in below RM0. 50 (RM0.48 is perfect).

Overall, there is no change to fundamental and storyboard momentum for JCY, macro the eon DC remains intacted, market continue to stay buoyant from this HEALTHY CORRECTION.

Analysts estimate YTL Power's net profit for FY2024 to be around RM3,000 million. For the last three quarters, YTL Power has already secured 80% of this target, needing only another RM600 million. Even if the company makes no changes from April to June (4Q24), they will still exceed analysts' forecasts by RM100 million.

In fact, YTL Power is recovering lost ground at Wessex Water, which could break even in the next quarter. The water and sewerage business incurred a loss of (RM51.23 million) in 3Q24 and (RM155.5 million) for 9M/FY24. If this position reverses and breaks even, it will instantly plug a RM200 million gap.

Pricing & Valuation: At its all-time high of RM5.47 per share, YTL Power's annualized FY24 PER is only 14.5x, compared to TNB's valuation of 26x. Isn’t that cheaper? Considering YTL Power's geographic and segmental diversity, along with its management's track record in delivering long-term concession cash flows and foresight. After all, YTL Power is undisputedly the first mover in the industry that brought Hyper-Scale Data Centres into Malaysia.

Actually today's movement is very solidifying and reinforcing for JCY's up trend momentum, this is despite market is weaker due to pull backs of many index linked stocks.

KEY TAKE-AWAYS From the Result Release

1. At the current improved cost structure and utilization of less than 50%, JCY has already broke-even (even excluding RM3mn FX gains)

2. JCY management is guiding for better performance in the second half compared to the first half.

3. Quantity of Shipment Sold was up +3% QoQ and +22% YoY.

4. Inventory levels in the supply chain is also going back to normal levels.

2Q24 Results

Quarterly Revenue RM147.1mn (+16.1%; +40.6% YoY)
YTD Revenue RM273.8mn (+26.8% YoY)

Quarterly Net Profit RM5.3mn (+302% QoQ; +121.1% YoY)

First turnaround profit after 8 quarter of consecutive loss. Profits momentum looks clear and sustainable moving forward since the company is profitable from the GP level onwards. 1Q24 already showed signs of profitability (1Q24 GP: RM1.47mn) and now its confirmation of profit moving forward.

Just want to highlight the abstracts:

REVIEW OF PERFORMANCE.
a) Revenue increasing driven by increasing demand for storage products, both Hard Disk Drives (HDD) and Solid State Drives (SSD). Our customers have started seeing some recovery in HDD demand and that is translating to more demand for the Groups offerings. We are seeing this sustained increasing factory capacity utilisation throughout the whole quarter.

b) An improved Group cost structure allowing the Group to turn to profitability even at a much lower factory capacity utilization rate. This improved cost structure is a result of a continuous effort by the Group to drive factory yields and productivity. This process is evident as we have reduced our Gross Loss consecutively Quarter on Quarter for the last 4 quarters.

The improved cost structure and higher customer demand driving higher factory capacity utilization resulted in our first Net Profit quarter since Dec 2021. This result is even more significant given that the Group’s capacity utilisation is still less than 50% in the reported quarter.


FUTURE PROSPECT
The reported quarter total HDD storage market showed a 3% increase Quarter on Quarter (QoQ) in units shipped and 22% QoQ total Storage Capacity shipped, increasing to 262 Exabytes(EB). This is the 2nd straight quarter that the industry is seeing unit HDD shipment increase. The industry has also reported that inventory levels in the supply chain are back to normal levels. Based on current market trends and barring any unforeseen circumstances, the Group expects the performance of the second half year to be better than the first half. The group is projecting that our factory capacity utilisation rate will increase as our customers improve their units shipped.
